I can't believe it's completely gone. Either have it integrated with Ping sidebar or allow us to choose which sidebar we'd like to use.

you're welcome- this is still kind of annoying, because I used to Alt-Click on the arrows to jump to albums in my music library. So I guess I won't be disabling this new button.
And while it still seems to be possible to perform the same action now, it's more complex and requires two clicks instead of one. That's just great. 🙁

EDIT: Looks like the arrows can be brought back using

defaults write com.apple.iTunes show-store-link-arrows -bool TRUE

this is very frustrating. i've already hid the ping sidebar.. and i used the genius sidebar frequently. it probably constitutes at least 30% of my itunes purchases.
