They didn't say much, except they will note my record, and they know it's not my fault as I did everything I was supposed to do. Since yours and mine are in the same place, I'm guessing a whole container of packages was mis-sorted/mis-routed in the Tracy, CA facility. There's probably others wandering around Siebert, CO with us. :)

Hoping tracking updates soon and we get back on track...and if we don't, that Apple takes care of us and forgives the old loans.

So I traded in an iPhone 11 64GB which I sent back on 9/28. Original delivery date was 10/1. It was "delayed" for some unknown issue but finally made it on 10/4. I did get my refund on 10/6. I just wonder since I had paid off the iPhone 11 that might play into why it all went fairly smoothly. But I have used the trade in process before and not had an issue in past years.

The big problem with FedEx is with a lack of employees.

Now add to that trying to replace those employees with the addition of the vaccine mandate.... that has to be affecting employee numbers. Sadly it most likely will get worse.

Sounds like they told you about the same thing they told me. I’m in agreement with you that hopefully we see movement soon and that our phones head back to Elk Grove, CA. And it wouldn’t surprise me if they’re together along with many others. My main fear remains that I will be responsible for continuing to pay on both phones, through Citizens One, if my phone doesn’t arrive by Oct 13th which Apple said was my “cut-off date” for return. Sigh.

I would tend to agree that perhaps things were smoother on your end because your phone was paid off so there was no old loan to deal with. So glad to hear it all worked out for you. I understand there is a worker shortage but it still makes zero sense as to why our phones are in Colorado. In my case, it was only a one hour drive away from its last departure. But, as I’m sure you read, several of our phones ended up in Colorado. I’ve also never had a problem with my trade-ins in the past so this is a new experience for me!

Both UPS and FedEx are experiencing shipping delays. I get lots of stuff delivered by both companies and both are experiencing shipping anomalies/delays. Also tracking info is not current, with UPS being the most screwed up. It wasn’t like this 6 months ago
This is so weird, I've had a number of things since the 13 released that I've bought come via FedEx or UPS, no issues, idk, maybe it's an issue based on location? Maybe? idk, so weird to see so many people with issues, seems due to the pandemic, you have to basically walk on egg shells when sending anything out via mail, I know it's been this way for years, as I've had issues with stuff not getting to me, usually from the USPS, never FedEx or UPS, but just seems like it's gotten worse, maybe not as many full time employees since the pandemic hit, but idk, just weird. Hope this stuff gets settled out, wish all Apple stores, and retailers(BestBuy, ATT, Verizon, etc..) would let you just bring the trade in to the store, seems ridiculous if they don't make it right, not your fault the shipping service lost a package.

There is something strange about this debacle. It’s almost as if Fed-Ex, Citizens One, and Apple are in cahoots on this. My theory is that Apple or it’s partner that inspects the phones has them in hand. The delay allows Citizens One to collect another payment. I know this is far fetched, but what other explanation could there be for so many of us that have the same problem. Apple and Fed-Ex need to come forward with a press release that will ease our concerns.
look apple iPhones are worth big bucks especially in other countries and people that work for Fedex have a very good idea what's inside the box going to apple return address and on top of that they know that you clear the whole memory for the next customer, how thoughtful :). better off just selling it on Craigslist or local somehow. I think the local apple store will take the trade in now too! but don't use Fedex just my opinion!

Dammm fed ex having a field day with peoples phones. During the pandemic fed ex has been losing aka stealing a lot of stuffs. Sneakers phones etc.

My friend is in security/loss prevention at UPS here in AZ. She said it is crazy what they have to do to protect packages during iPhone release/trade-in. They even have security from Apple in their facility.
That does not surprise me. Nor does stealing the phones to resell.

Yes, it is very nice of us to erase and clear the phones before sending them back. I wonder if the phone identifier numbers were some how recorded by Apple if they could block activation of the stollen phones. That would certainly put a crimp in the stealing.

Good point - I do believe my next trade in will be done in store from now on.

Yeah it's easy money. My 12 PM sold for $850 within a couple hours of posting it on fb marketplace. The dude said iPhones 12 and 13 PMs where hard to find.

Even in good times fedex is the WORST. They are either logistically incompetent or have no QC. I frequently need to deliver packages to neighbors and sometimes across town because they never deliver to the right address. It’s maddening.

they even lost an expensive anniversary present—and despite multiple calls never even bothered to call me back or follow up. The ONLY way I eventually got it was due to a Good Samaritan neighbor a mile away who got the package delivered. Terrible.

The problem is, for those of us in the upgrade program, we have to turn our phones in (Or so I thought before considering your post). I tried to turn mine in at my local Apple store but it would not let them close out my old loan. They felt it “safer” to mail my phone back, through the trade-in kit packaging, yet here we are with the phone in the wrong state and possibly lost.

Follow-up. I shipped my package 2 weeks ago today. For the record, my shipping location was to someone or a company called AL-RMAT, 45 Logistics Dr. in Carlisle, PA. I called Fed-Ex again this morning and was told the package was still in Greenville, S.C. (where I live). She was hard to understand, but I think she said she had opened an investigation ticket and that someone would call me. Of course, since she was so difficult to understand, she might have told me to get lost and I would have not even known it. All I know is, I am getting more concerned by the minute. It's freaking me out!

My trade-in phone is in Sacramento, CA and is to be delivered to Elk Grove by the end of the day today. Or so tracking states but we will see. Hoping your phone, or anyone else’s phone which landed in Colorado instead of CA, has had their tracking updated.

My phone was stated as being in Sacramento on Friday. Every day since then, it just repeats that it’s in transit in Sacramento. The initial delivery date was 10/7, now says pending delivery. I have the receipt, and Apple’s website says it’s still currently shipping. I really hope this ends up getting sorted out! It would be ridiculous if it got lost 15 miles away

My Mom's trade-in box to return her 12PM didn't arrive so we called Apple to send another one. We received the second one and sent the 12PM back. Three days later we get a delivery from UPS with the trade-in box inside a clear plastic bag. The trade-in box was ripped open and the white box that the phone goes in was loose in the bag. It looked almost like someone tried to steal it, knowing there might be an iPhone inside.

My trade-in box was most definitely opened when it arrived. Luckily it was the empty box. When I sent it back with the phone in it, I made sure to get a receipt from the mail center.

I just talked to apple chat and they did say my loan is already on hold even though they have not received the phone and also made a note on the order stating that it was properly received by FedEx

Mine updated this morning as well, so we were def traveling (and lost!) together. Mine updated to Delivered at some point today, and the Apple website says it will be inspected within 24 hours. Whew!

Congratulations! You had better luck than me after all! Mine went back to “No Delivery Date Available” and is sitting in the distribution center in Sacramento. Hopefully it moves by tomorrow. Sigh.

I was relieved this year when Apple allowed me to ship the trade in via UPS because I've heard so many horror stories of Fed Ex regarding iPhone trade-ins.

Any update on yours? I got the "all clear" from Apple last night that my phone has been inspected and accepted, and the old loan has been closed out.

I am having the same issue. Shipped my IUP return on 10/1; it had an origin scan in PA on 10/5 and has been delayed ever since. Called FedEx twice with no results, solutions or answers so I called apple. They have escalated it and are looking into the issue. follow . .

Well, I called FedEx, but didn’t get much info. At least for me, I keep getting updates every 12ish hours that it is in Sacramento still (since October 8th). The rep elevated the issue to his supervisor and said to expect a call tomorrow morning (we’ll see if that happens). I did learn that the reason for the updates every 12 hours is that the GPS on the trailer sends out a ping for every package registered with that trailer to get the location if it’s been 12 hours without an update, so that means it should hopefully still be in Sacramento and not stolen
