There is NEVER a reason to drink a light beer. In fact avoid Bud and Miller all together.

I disagree, for pure thirst quenching duties, I love me a Coors light.

For beverage enjoyment, bring on the reds, ambers, and hefes....draft only please.

i drink milk, but sometimes i add a little gin to it, i mean, sometimes i add a little milk to my gin.

And as for someone suggesting TAP WATER!? You've obviously never has a glass of tap water from anywhere in the UK.

The water's beautiful round here :p jump in!

Just fruit juice here (cordial or pure orange or pomegranate). Wouldn't alcohol do nasty things to food in the belly?
Also wouldn't it be really bad on your liver and the body in general?

So, no need to post AA links.

What abut BA links?
it depends what you're eating...
burritos and tacos with some chips and salsa -> coronas and XX.
fast food -> keystone.
Burgers and dogs -> bud light or miller light.
BBQ -> sam adams and saranac samplers.
wings -> rolling rocks.
gyros -> anything bc gyros are the best.
Wow, all but two of those (No comment of Dos Equis, I've never had it) suck. :p
Beer. The Original Food™. The bringer of agriculture and civilization itself, all hail the joy of the malted grain!
Here here! *chug*
as far as health and eco-conscience, nothing beats tap water.

Unless you live in an area where your water is supplied by the Colorado River (although most of it goes to irrigation, rather than drinking). Fe things annoy me more than seeing a lush green golf course in the middle of the desert.

call me crazy but i like drinking this thing called hydroxylic acid. i know it's a dangerous substance but i'm afraid that i'd die if i quit. :(

Lucky for me I work across the street from this place.

I hear that people who live next to breweries not only have water faucets in their house but also get to have one beer faucet installed (compliments of the brewery...in return for the hassle and trouble of living next to that brewery). :)

I saw a special on PBS, last year, on the art of paring beer to food...like people pair wine to food.

I find Fat Tire Amber Ale to be a good match with just about any kind of food, especially if they're garlicky or have a lot of mild-to-medium cheese. One of my favorite snack combinations is smoked cheddar on Triscuits with a Fat Tire. Fat Tire also goes really well with a meaty pizza.

Porters go well with hamburgers, especially with bacon.

A lot of beers have other interesting flavors in them. For example, last night I had a Henry Weinhard's Belgian Wheat Ale, which has a lot of citrusy flavor to it. It went great with a few Oreos and Harvest Cheddar Sun Chips. Many stouts have a chocolatey flavor; many porters taste of coffee. If you approach beer in a similar manner to wine, you will find a LOT of flavor is available to discern.

Anybody else here go to McMenamins (a restaurant chain in Oregon & southwest Washington)? I LOVE to have their porter while I smoke a pipe.

I'm lost on the environmental point. How is the beer producing less waste than the soda or juice?

I wasn't saying it was less waste, but my thinking was that it was better to recycle glass than plastic or, perhaps, even aluminum, but feel free to better inform me. Basically, I wish it was all lest wasteful. I'm considering buying some mini-kegs, but the variety of available beers is pretty poor. Sure, there are others things I can be better about, but every little thing counts!

Also I agree with devilot. I know beer is not *low* in calories, but it might beat out cheap "fruit juice" and soda.

Sounds like there are lots of beer drinkers out there. And nary a teetotaler telling me to shut my trap!

Nothing wrong with your resolution. I love a beer with dinner. I almost always ear food while consuming a beer or two. Something simple, such as Genoa Salami and chips is fine by me. Sam Adams cream stout is a personal favorite. I even prefer it to Guinness. I generally like stouts, or dark amber ales.

If you around Boston, give Jacob Wirth a try. Good restaurant, excellent sandwiches and soups.

Good brewpub, albeit a bit on the yuppie side: Watch City Brewing company. There have been some complaints about the consistency of the food, but I've always had their steak tips, and they've always been good. Their Moody Street stout is delicious, as is the Titan ale.

I think beer is pretty disgusting, and don't like alcohol in general -- or anything that will impair your judgment and destroy your brain cells. If I have to drink at a party I stick to a few sips of really good champagne (e.g., Veuve Cliquot Vintage Grand Dame).

For dinner I mix very good 100% fruit juices with water (e.g., half organic unfiltered apple juice and half water) -- super yummy, not too high in calories, and healthy, too. I alternate what juices I mix with water -- blackcurrant, peach, pear, etc., to keep it interesting. Added bonus is that I am setting a good example for my 6 year-old and can have the same drinks he has.

Tonight we had strawberry juice with water with dinner -- yum.

Beer makes me feel full but during summer I do enjoy a nice cold beer. I prefer red wine, though I've only had 1/2 a bottle total this whole year. :(

Me no likey red wines. 'Cause theyz gotz da "tannin." Ick. No furry tongue for me, thank ye v much. :D
