In not sure I'll be able to stay awake if I don't have ANY sleep :) lol

So you you guys reckon that if I get there for 4am then I'll get one? I hope it doesn't rain.... If it does I hope there's somewhere nearby to buy an umbrella !

On my way to the airport now!

Honestly, I have no idea. I've only lined up for one APple product (The iPhone 4) but I'll tell you my experience. First of all, I live more in the suburbs, not in the main city so the apple store I went to probably is nowhere near as busy as NYCs (they also probably don't get as many products either though ;) ).

But I actually went around midnight I think (or maybe 10, I don't know, but I did an overnighter). There was actually a line started at that time but it seemed most peopel who were going to overnight arrived by then. The next wave of people came around 4-6 am (There was just a trickle of people in between). So in my experience it seems if you get there before 4 am you are good (but it was for a different product in not the same type area).

I was at the W14th store just this morning, just one dude queuing!

:D
No Macbook? That guy isn't hardcore, he just has nothing better to do. :)

This might be a stupid question, but I was wondering, if you're queuing like this guy in the pic, what do you do if you have to use a restroom? Or if you're there at 1:00-3:00am? Do others in line do you a favor and hold your spot? That is going to be a factor for what time I plan on getting there.

I'm very interested in seeing how this turns out for the OP. Good luck! :D

Also, the guy already queued has Studio Beats with a Windows computer >.>
And is first in line?? I DON'T UNDERSTAND:mad:

Kidding :p

There is a Best Buy right next to the Apple store on the Upper West. So that doubles your chances. SoHo is a great store. Will NYU kids be there though? Good luck. And if you have that kind of cash to burn, you can pick up one on Craigslist launch day too....

Hey guys! I've landed !

Still waiting to get through customs! There's a big queue.

Hoping I get to the hotel quickly to grab a few Zeds before headin down early.

Has anyone saved me a place in line ;) ?

From one fellow Brit to another... tally ho! Sounds like a great adventure.

Hope you manage to pick up one and enjoy :)

Hey guys, thanks for all of your support over last night... I'm really happy to say that I'm writing this reply on my new iPad (and it's a white one!)

Unfortunately things didn't go to plan... My flight was delayed by about 50 minutes before take off, and came in just before 2 other flights in at JFK. That meant that we were at the back of 3 747's passenger queuing for border control and so it was about 2 hours 30 before we got through.

The length of time we waited at the border control meant that our luggage wasn't easy to get. And then because of all of the people before us, getting a taxi was tough too.

All in all I expected to be at the hotel about 8pm... We got here about 1am.

As much as I wanted to queue, I sat down and fell straight asleep.... But did get up nice and early this morning and headed down to 5th.

I have to say a massive thanks to all of your comments over the past little while though... Reading the posts and tweeting a few of you made the wait in customs last night a little more bearable!

Now I've just got to work out which apps to download :D
