Anyway, she's been struggling with the old PowerBook, and she's going to be pissed at me if Steve doesn't present a new MBP on Monday!

Am I in trouble?

I can't comment on the specifics of your domestic situation, but in a general sense I doubt many would be mad after getting a new Macbook Pro. :)

Holy Cow! Who wears the pants in your family!?

Don't you know there's a rule, that any new mac hardware - anything more expensive than a keyboard - is YOURS first? Then you get to hand down some piece of hardware to your wife or other family member.

So that would mean that any new MBP you buy is YOURS and that two year old Santa Rosa you have becomes her NEW computer! She'll be thrilled to get rid of her PPC Powerbook! Same principal applies iPods.

This is the case in every household I know of. There's not too many battles one can win against one's wife, but this is one of them. You need to train her and set her expectations accordingly. :)

Thats not how it worked in our family. I bought myself a 12" iBook G4, then I bought my wife a 15" Mac Book Pro. Then I got jealous, because - wow that was a nice notebook I bought my wife. But then again, it was present for graduating with a Masters degree. So, I bought myself an 8 core Mac Pro, so I'm happy again. Except, now she wants a Mac Air..... maybe I'll get the Mac Book Pro..... :)

This thread is full of the most misogynistic, sexist, ****** attitudes I've read on the internet in some time. Makes me wonder about male mac owners. And re-think joining this community.

As to the MBP - as many have said, nothing is coming out tomorrow.

Amen...and I'm only 17 :p

(yes I'm a guy)

you guys are pretty bad, surprised your wifes havent divorced you yet, destroyed all your Apple stuff and burned your crops lol :p

and to respond to the head thread MBP guy, just wait til after tomorrow, check rumor sites for a few days, and then buy her one. Apple Stores are usually pretty lenient with letting you trade one in for the new model (if you've only had it for a few weeks). I'm getting my first MBP this upcoming week and I went to the Apple Store today and they said it was fine to switch it out for an updated one as long as youve only had it for a few weeks and its not scratched.

OMG wominz on teh internetz!

I think you may be taking the responses here a bit too seriously. :D

We'll see what is released tomorrow. Meaningless speculation is fun if nothing else. What else do we have to do except drool over what his Steveness might announce?

well i've been putting off buying a MBP as a graduation present,(graduated on the 24th of may) for WWDC, and ether way it will be bitter sweet. because if one's announced tomorrow it will probably be 2 weeks until it ships if it is a true case revision, and i have already been waiting for this thing for 6 months and i am still rockin a used powermac G4. but seeing the mbp re-skinned would be tight but it looks like the components from intel and other providers needed to make a substantially better notebook aren't read yet, so i'll probably have a brand new MBP in less than 24hrs if one isn't announced

GTFO my internets!!1

taking yourself and others too seriously ftw.

BS on the "taking it too seriously" crap. It's one thing if one person makes a comment followed by some ribbing/chuckling, but in this case it was an entire thread's worth without anyone saying anything.

Besides, the neanderthal jokes in this thread weren't even funny.

After reading your criticisms, I re-read the thread. Exactly two comments have language that can be even remotely considered misogynistic, and neither caused the other posters to pile on and back slap. Indeed, most of the responses seem to have come from married men who know very well how to treat our significant others. Sorry, but I cannot agree with your outrage. To each their own, however.

Well... We placed the order yesterday for a 15" 2.4GHz matte screen MBP. That should ensure that despite all improbability, a revolutionary new MBP will be announced in several hours. ;)

The Wifenstein Monster will now have the fastest Mac in the house.

Right now you look like a Genius. Hope your wife loves the new machine.

If your wife doesn't know much about computer hardware, you could say that it was updated and buy it anyway...

It arrived! I set it up for her last night. She's very happy with it.

It's amazing how easy it is to transfer all the accounts, settings, and software over from the old Mac to the new Mac. I wonder if MS has finally implemented a similar system in Vista? I'm guessing "No".

Good to see you're still alive... ;)

And yes Vista has something like this, but it doesn't really work; let's face the facts here; if you have end pretty much upgrade all hardware on your computer to get Vista, it should be obvious any migration system is not going to work... :D

This comic can say this better than I can:

The signal to noise ratio on the internet will always go towards noise. You can filter out most of it to find some useful information, but in general if someone can't even bother to write out their arguments in something that resembles English (I'm no grammar troll, but still..) they should most likely be ignored.

Congratulations on the Macbook Pro too. I love mine even with the few flaws I've found. It is much better than what I had before. :D
