Why aren't you fawning over your Galaxy S3 then?

If it so superior, Android so mighty, the be-all to end-all...why do you feel it necessary to TROLL Apple forums constantly?

I think we both know the answer. Fear is an incredible motivator. :D :D :D

You continue to back up my earlier point, also it's pretty damn obvious your voting your own posts up soon as you post them, childish.

Even though you've got a hard-on for trolling I'll respond:

Wait till you actually use iOS 6 before judging. I've been using it since the beta was released Monday and it's definitely one of the biggest advances to iOS. Almost every feature is an improvement over something that was annoying.

iOS 6, 100% less annoying

I just draw them out at the start of the thread. Then we can give them their 15 seconds of fame and move along. :D

Perhaps you and the other Android shills have not figured out IOS6 is NOT RELEASED. When there is a FINAL SHIPPING PRODUCT we can have another look. Of course nothing Apple released would satisfy a fAndroid.

All these "threads" are speculation and innuendo over an UNRELEASED, UNFINISHED PRODUCT. Is that really tough to comprehend? It would be like me telling you how much Jelly Bean sucks ass when it is nowhere to be found just yet.

Considering 9/10 or better are using Android (and either admit it outright or specify it in their signatures) I'd say I'm spot on. "Oh god this sucks" "Oh that really sucks" "Apple blows chunks" "PS, I use a Galaxy Note!" LMAO :D :D :D
I hate to break it to you but map data is not something Apple can just hit a switch on between now and fall and overhaul it. They may tweak colors, labels, turn by turn, etc but the fact is their map data is very weak compared to Google. All you have to do is see the side by side pictures. Apples data is missing roads, locations, etc. mapping out the whole works is no simple task. Google has been at it for many more years than Apple. I don't think we will see much change in Apples maps from now until release. Also, I highly doubt Google will release an iOS equivalent of google maps on android. I think Apple would have updated the stock maps app years ago if Google was interested in making google maps on ios equal to android. Even when google does release iOS apps they are inferior to the android version.

This whole mapping thing is a huge factor to me personally. Navigation is probably one of the most used features of a smart phone in my opinion. I know I rely on it a lot, and this lackluster solution may be the tipping point for me to try out the SIII.

What am I fearing exactly? My HTC Desire running Android Froyo, which I got two years ago, had most of the features Apple announced in iOS 6.

I don't fear anything. I visit these forums because I like Apple devices. I think it's absurd to suggest they're more feature packed than Android devices, however.

Let's see: -

- Maps with turn by turn - my HTC Desire had this.
- Do not disturb - my HTC Desire could do this (via an app).
- Call rejection with a message - my Galaxy S2 and S3 could both do this.
- Attach files from compose screen of an e-mail - Android can do this, but it can attach ANY file, not just pictures and videos. It has been able to do this for a long time.
- Siri - voice actions can do a lot of what Siri can, although I do think Siri is the market leader of voice apps, especially with the new updates.
- Facebook integration - Android has had this for a long time. It can also share to any application that implements the sharing API, so Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Evernote, LinkedIn, etc etc.
- Upload in Safari, cloud syncing of tabs - Android has had uploads (and downloads) and cloud syncing of tabs for a long time.
- Cloud syncing of autocorrect dictionary. The autocorrect dictionary on Android is synced with my Google account. I can also access the autocorrect dictionary and manually add words to it, rather than having to repeatedly "train" my keyboard.
- Facetime over 3G - Android has had this via Skype or Google Talk for a long time.

So yeah. Forgive me if I'm not that impressed with the update, I've been spoiled with these features for a long time.

Will be a nice update for my iPad, but I'm still kinda underwhelmed because I can use my Android phone for these purposes already.

Now that Steve Jobs is dead and Apple aficionados have no messiah to bask in the glow of, some of the reality distortion field has been neutralized and people are beginning to wake up from their Apple coma and realize that Apple is PURPOSELY rationing out features to get people to continue to upgrade.

This is the year that Apple will start to see a tumble unless Apple finally realizes it needs to stop treating its customers like children and roll out an OS that doesn't insult our intelligence.

This is one of the most idiotic things I've seen. Where do you even get this from?

You think the average consumers care about who makes the products, who designs them? They care about the end result. Final project. Not unicorns in Apple labs.

Many of the posters her had strong unhealthy relationships with Steve and now he doesn't exist people ARE realising that apple is a company like any other.

You are 100% wrong.

Just because you have switched to Android and continue to hang around here and bash Apple doesn't mean Apple will slip even a little in their market dominance.

It is mostly Android trolls. And they have come out in droves, hence the appearance of "so much negativity". After all, they see Apple removing the last obstacles (and their primary arguments) for those jumping off the Android wagon.

The number one fAndroid retort: "Google Navigation" Apple has taken care of that "but" nicely. Not surprised to see them foaming.

Well apple has copied almost everything from the Android OS already, not much else left.

If you expect an Apple product to be more feature packed than whored out OS like Windows and Android you're fooling yourselves.

Apple is about minimalism and finding the right mix of features. They don't have to succumb to trying to "please all people all of the time"

Frankly it doesn't matter than some person gets a Android or Windows phone or Blackberry. This is a large numbers game and Apple's poised to do very well overseas and locally (multiple small carriers and now Cricket and Virgin pre-paid)

What's going to happen to that all the geek naysayers will crow about how the iPhone 6th generation isn't going to do well and Apple is going to kill it in numbers. The table is being set right now.

They didn't copy Androids broken profit plans or fragmentation. LOL

Lol youre a moron bro. Im sure people who own iOS devices are well aware of what they're buying into. That "rationing out" you speak of is a simple business model and a very effective one at that. You roll it all out at once then what's left to give? Doesn't take a genius to understand and accept that. If I felt I was being short handed or limited as to what apple let's me do with my phone then I wouldn't own one. Simple As that. I'd have a clusterfcked android that's got way too much going on and isn't as aesthetically pleasing. Attaching "any file" let alone photos and videos to safari never even crossed my mind. I can almost guarantee ill never use that feature with iOS6. Different strokes for different folks. Average users don't care about majority of the **** some of you people whine about and the people who do should quit complaining about how let down they are by new updates and reevaluate whether or not the pros to sticking with apple outweigh the cons. And then you can just buy into another company that meets your standards. Very simple math. Some of you sound like little school girls with all that android has this before that and my iPhone can't do this...bunch of noise. Cry about it.

I mean, they really have a right to... iOS 6 offered nothing extraordinary except Maps (which I'm hoping actually becomes half as good/detailed as Gmaps). It was just a 5.x update, imho.

Maps, Siri, iCloud, FaceTime, Passbook: BUNCH OF ABSOLUTE GIMMICKS
Maps is great, the improvements to Siri are great, iCloud is fantastic, FaceTime over 3G isn't anything special but it's about time, and Passbook has a huge potential. I've got iOS 6 on my 4S and iPad 3, and love it. They've refined everything and they're making it work brilliantly with Mountain Lion.

Plus there's still at least two or three months of work going into iOS 6 before it's released, fixing bugs and making improvements. They've fixed a lot of its shortcomings.

New maps alone is too significant a change to consider it a 5.x update. Siri was beta with ios5 and they guaranteed it would get better and it has. Passbook is going to become what everyone wanted NFC in the next iPhone for.

The begs the question "What's extraordinary that's missing from iOS 6?"

iOS is finally becoming mature to the point where there are few glaring features that are missing. When people start talking about Wifi/Bluetooth toggles like they are actually important it's a signal that the bases are covered for the most part.

- True file system (which would allow us the ability to attach all files to email amongst other things).
- NFC, LTE
- Yes, as you pointed out, ability to access common settings quickly rather than laboriously go into the settings menu every time.
- Widgets
- True multitasking
- Maps are missing quite a few features from what Google Maps offered.
- MicroSD card support (if not MicroSD, expandable storage).

It's becoming mature, but there are lots of things still missing.

I find it more than a little pathetic that some people feel the need to tell others what they should and should not like or be satisfied with.

"No you CAN'T possibly be satisfied with iOS!" ... Yes, I can be. And I have been for quite a while now.

Apparently for some here it's not enough to simply use the product they prefer; they have to beat everyone else over the head with it. They cannot accept that their opinions are not facts. (And let's be honest: that goes for fanboys of any stripe.)

Yup, like I said, except for Maps, everything else in iOS 6 could have been justified with an iOS 5.x update. Even Passbook.

That really depends on perspectives. Navigation was the one glaring omission in iOS for a lot. It wasn't for me. The one glaring omission for me that could be so easily fixed with a 5.1.x update is Bluetooth and wifi toggle in Notifications bar or somewhere else. But what is really getting to me is that the entire iOS is getting a bit boring for me, personally. I would've liked a live UI, instead of a static and boring UI.

I get the quote "why mess with success?" and "don't fix anything that's not broke," but really, if that were the case then there would be no innovation. The only way to truly improve is to take chances/risks and innovate, rather than make some facade changes and worry about the billions in profits.

It is possible to be critical of Apple without being a shill for another platform.

I love iOS, it's my favourite mobile OS and I have a vested interest in it doing well since I'm employed as a developer. But I also have high standards for usability and user experience, and if Apple do something that's not up to scratch then it's worth calling them on it.

Usually I call them on it in a bug report, and once I've got the iOS 6 developer preview on my own device I'll probably stop talking about it in public, but for now I may as well comment on the screenshots people are posting. This is the internet after all -- everyone's opinion is equally meaningful!

Perhaps you don't know what beta means?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Software_release_life_cycle

"Beta
Beta (named after the second letter of the Greek alphabet) is the software development phase following alpha. It generally begins when the software is feature complete."

Apple will be looking to fix bugs now before they release iOS6, there won't be any drastic changes. What you see now is what you will get in the final version, only everything might work a little bit more fluidly and it should be slightly more stable.

You don't release a beta, where the software is FEATURE COMPLETE, with half-assed maps.

Heh -- I was all set to tell you that Apple didn't refer to it as a beta but as a developer preview, but then I went and checked and beta it is :)

You're right that there almost certainly won't be new features. Things like tweaking the way maps look --- well, we can live in hope!

You'll know when Apple is in decline when all the android trolls go back under their bridges and stop infecting an Apple forum with their stupidity.
