get another phone???

If he's got enough time to flame apple for not incorperating MMS then i think he's got enough time to just look for another crappy phone that offers MMS.
The iPhone is one of the best smart phones out there with the best GUI. Just be proud to be able to use all the apps without having to go through 5-10 steps like on a WM phone.

Geez

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; U; CPU iPhone OS 2_1 like Mac OS X; en-us) AppleWebKit/525.18.1 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/3.1.1 Mobile/5F136 Safari/525.20)

I'm so sick of this bullsh*t about people shouldn't have bought the phone if they want MMS. The fact is it's supposed to be a phone that can do everything but beyond that it's a phone and to not do something that 10$ phones from walmart can do is beyond ludicrous. I know everyone here is really into Apple. Great I like the company too but that doesn't mean they can never make mistakes.

If this guy actually causes more people to speak up, then awesome becuase his problem really pisses me off.

On a side note... f**k email. Hardly anyone I know has a phone that can do it so no it's not a viable alternative.

Although I think it would be a great addition to the iPhone, I don't think it warrants an endless rant by someone who acts like he needs an anti-psychotic medicine. The guy took it to the extreme and is obviously angry about it. If you want MMS that bad, then get another phone. Apple never advertised the iPhone as having MMS capability when it was released, and unless somebody forced the guy to buy an iPhone, then it's nobody's fault but his own.

There is a way to suggest features to Apple: www.apple.com/feedback I highly suggest making use of it as they do review submissions.

No, the iPhone is not perfect. Yes, MMS would be a great addition. However, we need to act civil about it instead of going off on a rage that makes one look like a lunatic. FWIW, just because you don't know many people that can get email on their phone doesn't mean that the rest of us don't have friends that can receive email on their phones.

What? You mean they can't do something so simple as email? Email has been around for decades, and some phones can't do that? What cheap pieces of crap. Oh my god! I can't believe someone would release a phone that can't read email! I mean, email is so simple and basic. I could read email 15 years ago! Those phone makers should be burnt on a stake! I'm melting!! MELTING!!

You comments could equally apply to MMS

ps, Not sure if you are being sarcastic or not

Take a look at my post history...most of my posts are bitterly sarcastic towards posts I find funny. Don't say MMS is so basic but that email isn't an alternative because so many phones don't have it. Except for those in underdeveloped countries and wacko conspiracy theorists, pretty much everyone on the planet has an email address (and most have more than one). Far more widespread, just unfortunately not on cellphones.

I have no real use for MMS, but I have no argument against it. I thoroughly believe it should be there, even though I might use it once every six months. I just like ruffling the feathers of those who must use it as a means of existence, and think that they are of no fault for buying a phone that doesn't do it. They couldn't be bothered to do their research, but it's the manufacturer's fault they are stuck with it. Please, add MMS, if nothing else just to shut people up.

ZOOOOOM!

That was exactly the point. He took the common MMS rant and substituted 'MMS' with 'email.'

Oops , Perhaps I should have read more of your posts before commenting

I only comment as non of the workarounds work, Fine in US, not in UK

It only takes me three seconds to check my email on my iPhone, and it works great when my friends email me photos. The problem arises when people don't have push-email, and therefore don't receive notification that a message has been sent. So for people that have push email, it seems better than MMS, but for people that don't have push email, it's not better.
Am I right, or am I wrong?

What can you do with MMS that you canNOT do with email ?

I do not think it was a mistake that they forgot MMS. There had to be a reason. People want MMS and that means more money not to mention all basic smartphones and all other smartphones have MMS.

I am sure Steve and his people talked about it.

I dont mean they forgot to add it as a feature. I mean they made a mistake by deciding to leave it out.

Really the point is that if there is any way to do it, MMS seems to be the standard. Even with email, my dad can't receive picture attachments on his BlackBerry. When phone is going to be capable of sending a picture, it seems that a mojority of the time it will be by way of MMS, not email.

Yes, email is an old technology and phones can do it, but MMS is much more direct and mostly everyone knows how to send a picture using that method, but I doubt those not using smartphones could figure out how to do it using email.

i hope this smack is heard around inifinite loop, this guy has a great point..i casted my vote!

ive never heard of a company be so ignorant of consumer demand, its almost unbelievable

That's what rap music is doing to inner-city kids. It's sad. And that Kanye West guy named his album "College Dropout" and these kids think it's cool. And, then they wonder why the f__k they are working at Walmart when they are 40 years old.

Stay in school, kids! Stay in school !

Are we waiting for Jobs to tell us if we should like MMS or not? ;)

Heh. Some people seem to hang on his every word, no matter how silly. Reminds me of the Life of Brian, where the hero says something and the worshipping crowd repeats it to death.

My point was to them. Unlike say, Firewire, where Jobs gave a reason... or about not including 3G in the first model, for which he gave an excuse... he's never said anything at all about MMS. Yet some people say "Well there must be a good reason behind it" and proceed to make one up.

It could be as simple as the fact that he's in his fifties, and that's a dead spot for MMS users. Much younger and a little older, both use MMS. The email generation in between does not, according to surveys.

Geez

Maybe you'd like to pay his termination fee for him?

The iPhone may have a nice GUI, and possibly it is the best, but it's certainly not the best smartphone out there.

Hilarious but he does have a point its such a basic functionality there's absolutely no excuse not to incorporate. Even RIM the king of mobile email support MMS

Basic functionality:
MMS
Support for Forwarded SMS
Decent Bluetooth profiles
Copy & Paste
Video Recording

Seriously its not that hard...just freaking do it steve

Er...what? Seriously...what? What are you trying to convey there? It would really help if you knew the IPA. I'm interpreting those spellings as: ['fɑðəɹ] and ['aɪfəʊn] (more or less). Which are both pretty standard pronunciations... And don't you think 'English' merits a capital 'E'?

Oh, you don't like AAVE (African American Vernacular English) - see Bill Labov's wikipedia entry for some pointers about that.

I have more issues with the guy's threat of violence than with his phonological system. Sheesh.

Honestly, I think it's hilarious, but it's really nothing new. We've been b*tching about this forever. If it ever happens I'll be really surprised.

I did read somewhere that Apple was worried about people MMSing ringtones and what not that would interfere with business in the iTunes store. (Although come on, it's so easy to make your own)

i choose not to be friends with people who complain about mms.

want to send me a 100x100 pixel photo?
id rather you not talk to me at all.
