Like, no ****!

Anyone who knows anything about medical sensors would have said the same thing.

I am officially disappointed in this forum....

Not one conspiracy theory nut bag has come forward to claim that the NSA is in cahoots with apple and will have a back door that lets them know where you are and kill you if necessary, or target a drone more accurately....

This is going to be marketed & branded as an iPod Nano.

Specifically, the 8th gen iPod nano.

Get serious...

----------

That's why they can't market it as a watch, because watches are Jewelry, which are expressions of personality.

They can only market this device as an iPod nano, for functional moments like at the gym, instead of a date night.

NOBODY is going to wear a geek watch in a social setting, except the most godawful horribly unsocialized geeks. It's bad enough that people sue cell phones in social settings.

But you don't know what it will do yet. I think you are blind to the possibilities that you can't imagine.

Am I the only one NOT looking forward to everyone walking around wearing the exact SAME watch ?

haha, let's hope Apple has learned something.

I wonder how big the 3rd party market will be for accessories on this...

If the battery is in the strap, then you would think you will be limited to only apple straps. I bet this will be the situation when it comes out, samsung will copy, and the iwatch 2.0 will have interchangeable straps/cases.

Don't worry, the band will be available in black AND brown!

Sadly, the brown band will be delayed 6 months due to problems adapting the paint to the material.

"The iWatch is surrounded in tinfoil, making it impervious to NSA tracking." -An Analyst.

Everyone wearing the same watch and using the same phone. What was the point of that Apple 1984 commercial again? I can't remember. :D

I won't wear it. No bling:) I have a boring doctor to check my vital signs. Something disturbing about Apple going into the sickroom supply business :(

My take is that there'll be a huge case and wristband market for the iWatch.

I'm no fan wrist watches so I'd love to see a pocket watch style case with a larger battery inside it.

In the intelligence business, if you are targeted to be taken out, they really don't need an iWatch. Whenever I hear these type screaming that the government is after them, I always ask "What do you know that make it worth their time?" Many of these guys have done way too much a mix of recreational pharmaceuticals and spy novels.

hey now....windows phone's aren't that bad.

Neither is an ingrown toenail after you get used to it. Then you don't notice it was there 'til its removed to a sigh of relief.

I only recently got into monitoring my calories and health (lost 50 lbs). While I think a watch that monitors blood sugar and heart rate (and counts steps, etc.) would be great for me, I don't see that or health products in general becoming the huge money-making product everyone has to have like the iPod or iPhone.

If Apple is going to sell an iWatch, health monitoring will be ONE thing it does well, but it likely won't be the ONLY thing it does well.

This is going to be a good one. My take is that the apps market for this will be huge and as much of a rush as the first iPhone launch. A lot of dumb-ass novelty ideas will take off with a couple of thousand developers laughing their way to the bank.

It's ironic that the field of healthcare I'm in pretty much requires me to have a watch, but most of the iWatch speculation has no benefit for me beyond telling time.

Unless I'm going to start lending patients my watch, but I would probably have better luck finding an oximeter laying around...

----------

You don't know anything about social status then.

People still take social status seriously?

sigh...I really need to move to a better city...

If this were an Android smartwatch, it would be filled with clock theming apps. :p

Apple's watch will dance circles around the competition, will be completely different internally and externally and will do 10x as many things, but I can absolutely guarantee their fanboys will bleat on about Apple copying them.

And then they'll continue to chant the same story when the competition's 2nd gen offerings all follow Apple's lead.

All I have to say to the boys that started Pebble and a handful of others that got their units out in the last twenty four months -- enjoy the paid off mortgage, fun cars and hottie girlfriends. Take a big chunk out of what you made and roll it into other investments before the end of the year.

...And that's something Apple would NEVER ALLOW with any watch-like device that was made by them.

Coming to an Apple Store near you, Summer 2042...

And there will be limited supplies... order yours today, to get it in 2052....

I don't know if this has already been posted, but I'm curious to know if the iwatch could potentially be covered by insurance. The New York Times reported as much for Google Glass.

Maybe I'm alone but no matter how many features or how sexy it looks I just don't want another $200 plus device I don't need. We all know that a smart watch will not exceed the capability of a smartphone.

I'd be surprised if this is true. That method of measurement requires a very tight fit, is rather flaky, very sensitive to positioning (works better near your elbow) and sucks down battery when it's working.

It's the kind of thing you strap on when you're exercising and take off as soon as you're finished because it's not comfortable to wear and needs charging! Not the kind of constant carry, mass appeal consumer device Apple makes.

I'll put this rumor down to 'things people speculate about and say out loud'. The iWatch, if it exists, may run off a tiny cold fusion reactor, but it probably won't.

Then don't buy it. Apple doesn't cater for your needs personally.

There will be plenty of people who will be interested in the iWatch to make it a viable product.
