Either Apple is doing an amazing job keeping the 'iWatch' details under wraps, or I can only suspect the launch of that rumored device, is not quite that close.

I think it's because the thing is not in production yet. At least not until WWDC. They want to keep it a secret so they can show us something at WWDC. And selling will start in September or something like that.

I agree with John Gruber that Apple rumor sites need to quit posting concept designs/mockups with their stories. This particular article is very vague and makes no mention of what this so-called "iWatch" is supposed to look like. Why is MR throwing up a mockup that maybe nothing like what the actual device (if it even exists) will look like?

You think the rumour websites will change how they want to write because one person thinks otherwise? Not going to happen. They write however they want to. And if we readers have two choices. Like it or leave.

I wonder if they'll do a "one more thing" segment during the upcoming WWDC in June to announce the iWatch? ;)

Also, not a fan of the leather straps, and I highly doubt Apple will go with that aesthetic.

Maybe Tim will be wearing it the entire time, and then look at his wrist and say "one more thing"

I have seen a lot of people hoping for the "one more thing", but i don't think that will ever happen, it was one of Steve´s "trademark" and i think every presenter at Apple will respect Steve´s legacy (legacy is not the correct word but yeah, something along those lines)

just like the iPhone was just another mobile phone basically similar to other mobile phones at the time, when it launched ... or have you forgotten what Apple Does well ?

Did you miss the "ha ha ha" part? The ending in a question mark?

A lot of people are forgetting what Apple does well, including the writers at MR. That was the point.

Oh dear. We are not allowed to comment anymore? Well, if you say so.

If it doesn't have full OSX on it, I'm not buying it.

lol, sorry, couldn't keep a straight face.

I don't know why everyone's hating on the iWatch. I personally can't wait until I don't have to pull my phone out every two seconds to check if I'm missing an SMS or an e-mail. As someone who gets a lot of them, especially for work during the day, it would be great if I could just glance at my wrist and see if I missing anything - bonus if it vibrates on your wrist- ... I always feel like an ass when I keep pulling out my phone or worse when I've missed an important message because I didn't feel the phone vibrating in my pocket. iWatch would bring me some peace of mind and the ability to not be near my phone at all times.

With the addition of all the fitness stuff it makes it all the better. I honestly can't wait for this to come out; I'll be waiting on line day 1 - something I don't do with iPhones.

I agree...but imagine if we learn after the WWDC that he was wearing it, and all we have are crappy screen shots of it on his wrist. That would drive some of us nuts...

I can guarantee you that the iWatch's sole purpose isn't to serve notifications from your smartphone. Why is that? Because your iWatch becomes completely useless without a smartphone. This is another reason why the Galaxy Gear and the vision of Android Wear sucks.

Anyone can enjoy a smartphone or a tablet as stand alone devices. If the iWatch is tethered to one of these its going to be a complete failure.

Tethering makes a lot of sense - as several have mentioned earlier no need for getting the phone out of the pocket (or carry it around the office or house) to get a quick glance at messages, e-mail, calendar or meeting notifications.

And you are wrong about the Galaxy Gear; several of the core functions work very well without being tethered to the phone, and the accumulated data (when it comes to step counter/heart rate monitor) is automatically synced to the phone afterwards. But you can of course do a lot more useful stuff when the phone actually is within bluetooth range.

That's useful, but it's not the killer app. If Apple hopes to have a break out hit like the iPhone, it's not going to be an iWatch tethered to a smartphone.

The killer app has to be something people can't live without.
