We're a week away from seeing a product YEARS in the making, and the best rendering of the iWatch MacRumors can go with looks like a nerds wet dream.

How about a mockup that at least looks like a nice timepiece worth the money it'll cost?

Even the duct tape mockup was better than this...

Lazy moderators are lazy.

No wonder after new product launches, people look back at all the "mockups" from these websites and laugh. You guys are pathetic.

Function over form. Anyone that purchases an Apple primarily because it's shinny and looks pretty is a fool. Apple products primarily exist to make our lives better, not to look good. Looking good is important, but secondary.

100% positive Apple's got working pre-production iWatch units that they can demo on 9/9. Maybe you don't remember the original iPhone launch back in 2007, but that's basically what Steve used for his on-stage demo.

As well as the Mac Pro.

It would make the recent discussion about the $399 price moot - that thing is something I wouldn't buy at any price.

I'd buy it in a heartbeat. Big enough to use and plain enough to not attract too much attention. It's a tool, not jewelry! It looks far better than the iPod watch.

How would I see apple Watch?
I do not think it should have a screen at all. I would prefer to have a beautiful bracelet, with micro holes that would show time and date and the rest of the bio tech would be all inside and invisible. Battery would last for weeks before it would need to be charged, all data would sync with iPhone.

Get a fancy FitBit.

Anyone believing Apple is making products "to make your life better" is just as big a fool. They make/sell products to make money.

Tons of people buy Apple for the looks (or the attached brand image I guess).

Thankfully, not all companies and not all people simply do everything for the money. If that were the case, everything would be Samsung-like, in every industry.

I buy Apple for higher build quality and better customer service, I hide the looks in cases or bags.

Anyway, there should be a documentary made about people who run around saying that anyone who doesn't agree with their philosophy is a fool and joins forums focused on things they do not like just so they can act like jerks to everyone...it's a gigantic ego trap and could probably produce some interesting results.

If it is truly delayed till the 2015, then what has apple been doing for the last 9 months

I believe Steve mentioned that the iPhone was in development for over 8 years. Developing a new product (not a redesign) takes many years. It took our company almost 2 years to release a new ball point pen design, and it won't be on shelves until January.

Most people don't have a clue as to how much time an effort goes into product design, development, and manufacturing. You can be sure that Apple has already started design, development, and bread-boarding of the iPhone 7 (for release 2 years from now), and conceptualizing the iPhone 8 (for release 4 years from now). And these are just redesigns, not a new product like this.

True, but they can only make desired profits by offering products that improve peoples lives more than the competition does.

I agree ..

I also agree that Apple does make nice products that do even make my life easier on occasions .. I just don't think that it is the "primary reason" those products exist .. as the guy claimed ..

So much of the iphone 6 has leaked that I think Apple will at least show and perhaps demonstrate how the iwatch works with the iphone 6 on Sept 9th.

If anything, just to beat the leakers and take back control of the anticipation factor. The iphone 6 will probably still impress....but by showing the iwatch at the same event, it will really surprise everyone. It's the "one more thing" that everyone used to love about Steve Job's keynotes.

The iwatch may well not be available until early 2015, but if I were a betting man, I'd say it'll be unveiled on the 9th along with the iphone 6.

At this point with all the iphone 6 leaks, the iwatch wouldn't steal its thunder, but actually enhance the event with a much needed wow factor. Just my opinion.

Guess we'll find out in a week. ;-)

Ok I think I'll trust re/code over DigiTimes.

I agree and i think it will be a real black eye for the one that was wrong. Seems to me it's pretty rare to have completely opposing rumors from two prominent sources.

I don't think Apple would build a whole building in such a huge venue for an iPhone refresh.

i kind of want to believe it and in the same way I don't.

I hope the device gets announced next week, however, I hope the parts are approaching production. Personally, an introduction of a new product category, long before a 2015 launch would make sense.

Who has a better track record: Digitimes or Re/Code?

I guess we'll find out next week.

With the recent FapGate scandal, Apple needs the iWatch to divert attention. It's a done deal...iWatch on the 9th.

If they will not unveil iWatch than what? Will they talk about iPhone with bigger screen for one hour? Give me a break!

Like Apple has never had a one product special event filibuster before? Of course they can drag out an iPhone + iOS8 presentation for an hour. Maybe you are too young to remember some of the seemingly never ending "bake offs," and 3rd party demos used to waste time in events past.

I'm not suggesting that will be the case, but it's well within the realm of possible to be utterly dismissed. Apple changes it's presentation plans up to the moment the first speaker walks on the stage.

That's like saying before a street race: which is the faster car -- Porsche Carrera S or Yugo. We'll find out once the race starts!

Lazy moderators are lazy.

Same goes for lazy readers. At least the duct tape guy did something instead of complaining.

If it bothers you that much, go gather some better looking concepts, resize them to match each other, and post them. Of course, then you'll have to deal with all the "oh that's ugly!" responses to your own post :)

i think a nerd would expect two usb ports and an sd card slot.

In fact, i am absolutely sure that the lack of usb ports will be the first and major complaint that people will have about the iwatch. From years of discussions about iphone and ipad, i have learned that people really like to attach cables to their mobile devices for some reason.

Based on what we've seen and heard so far, minus the Digitimes article, I'd be surprised if iWatch isn't the "one last thing" at the September 9 media event.

Digitimes? Come on, it's too early for this. I'd much rather believe an "analyst" before I believe them.

There's a smart watch slideshow in this article: http://www.cnn.com/2014/09/02/tech/mobile/smartwatches/index.html?hpt=hp_t4 that has, arguably, better-looking designs.

However, even looking through those, I just don't see it. Watches are jewelry with 100+ years of design diversity deeply entrenched in all consumers. Can a singular design even from Apple move the masses to all conform to a single watch design? One might say, "But Apple did it with a phone" to which I'd offer a phone is NOT jewelry.

When I was in college, I worked in retail jewelry. When it came to selling watches, one of the main buying drivers was a unique look… NOT looking like the same watch worn by everyone else. Next time you are in a public place (airport, mall, etc) do a subjective, very localized, visual survey and note the diversity of watch designs on people's arms: every size, every shape, every color, diverse functionality, etc. Why are those people- which are not the Apple fans here- going to give up the design diversity to comply with a single design? If we think they will, the iUniform must be right on it's heels.
