For me, an iwatch needs to have:
Biometric sensors
NFC for payments (just got back from Disney a and the smart band is pretty amazing in use)
Find my watch (keep your iPhone, give me the watch, now)
Sensors, so it knows when I am looking at it, rather than me having to use my other hand to activate it
Be a watch, with added features, rather than a wrist computer, with a watch feature
Easy to clean. Who here loves the stinky watch smell?
Work with home automation, with smart confirmation. Don't want the light to turn on when I get up at 2am to go to work, but do when I get home from work.

Launching in two sizes. One size like the mockup which no one will want. The other size being the bracelet they can't keep on the shelves. ( and I'd expect a color or two to double down on being even harder to find).

What's the betting that this will be the really cool and aesthetically pleasing item of jeweltech that every has been waiting for…...

….but for the fact you'll have to attach an iPhone to make it useful?

A bit like the early 80's mobile phones and their (suitcase size) batteries.

If the iWatch can make a call independent of any other tech, then its up with current innovation, sensors are really an add on (Nike band etc etc - been there done that). NFC - my credit card can do that - yawnnnn!!!. The ultimate gadget is the one that can do it all and more…..

If the iWatch is focusing just on sensing - then its already failed. IF…IF it can do it all - then it will be an innovative world leader.

My prediction - last years innovations - no independent call - nice package - overpriced and underspecified. And really not living up to the classy marketing.
No point in putting a hyped marketing teaser out there if you just deliver what's already achievable!.

Would love to be proved wrong.

Would be a GIANT dropped ball if this thing is an iPhone only accessory. It's the perfect one more thing... "One more thing..we didn't forget you Android".. and announce an android app that pairs the new wearable with ANY phone. Would be a perfect chance to take a dig at everyone else " We know you android phone fans have been waiting for something like this".. Needs to be a bracelet that plays with EVERYTHING and plays even better with iPhone.

The watch will have the sim card, "secure enclave", antennae, motion and health sensors etc. but minimal processing, storage and screen. This will solve most of the battery issue.

Whatever device you are using will interface with with it using low power bluetooth, being a iPad or "phablet" or whatever . Since a lots of the sensors are offloaded onto the watch smaller form factor and more battery life.

The iPhone will basically be a souped up iPod touch.

Issue with that: the iPhone owners that don't want or have the iWatch. If they did that then they would have to have the iWatch come with the iPhone. I definitely don't see Apple doing that...

Wow, it sounds like it has huge potential and I can't wait to hear more, but if it's really carrying that $400 price tag I'll have a hard time talking myself into getting one.

OLED is the most impractical display technology for a smart watch there is. A good smart watch should have a screen with reflective or transfective properties, so that it isn't washed out by sunlight.

For me, I think it would be genius if the iWatch had a clip like the 6th-gen iPod Nano, so I can clip it anywhere I want with style.

Here's what I used to do back when I wanted to do last-minute studying before the exam

I think a clip would be great, plus it would be distinctive from all the other Android Wear stuff.

Here's another image of my iPod Nano as a watch

Then apple, a lot later and after saying you can't use a 4'' watch properly because of your nose, would release a bigger watch than the note 1 but with a 3,5 screen and less battery life. Suddenly all apple fanboys would think wearing a huge display is cool and normal people would laugh at them because they are stupidly biased but they wouldn't care because windows freezes and android is full of viruses and steve jobs said so

you didnt get the joke :(

So I'll ask the obvious question - will this be a manual or a self-winding watch? I r-e-a-l-l-y hope it is one of those self-winding watches.

Methinks it be powered by tiny magick particules pulled through a metalline substance by the force vitae.

My prediction for the latest release from Apple's many years of development - last years innovations and technology - no independent call - nice looking package - overpriced but underspecified.

Apple don't seem to be looking beyond the 'edge'!

Would love to be proved wrong.

You're like the guy who said the first iPod was worthless because you had to run another piece of software on your computer. For this iWatch 1.0, the iPhone stays in your pocket. What's the problem with that-- were you using your pocket for some other purpose? OK, don't answer that.

I'll buy it on preorder pretty much regardless of its looks. I'm intregued by all things tech, when I stop and think about all the money I have poured into fitness watches, bands, trekking devices and lots of others I guess I figure why stop now. If Apple gets the performance, accuracy and repeatability right I'll be quite happy with it.

I'm pretty sure its going to look pretty good as well. ;)

True, but I keep my valuables apart, so it is unlikely that someone steals both...

You keep your keys and wallet separate? Anyone that can steal a watch off your wrist can steal your wallet and keys.

In any case, I'm sure Apple would come up with some kind of device lock.

so the watch is going to have touch ID too then right? Everywhere it seems apple has tied touch ID into its payment service.....so if you can pay with just the watch it would have to have touch ID. because pulling the phone out for a fingerprints defeats the benefit of the watch having NFC.

work.

I'm hoping if the display isn't on full time, there will be an included "shake to wake" feature so one handed use is possible for a quick check of time, notifications, etc.

Tattooed on my ass where it is for all the other iFans!

Speak for yourself! Mine is laser etched on my kidneys.

This would be so bad for marketing. You do realise that people will be called 'Apple Wankers'?

Thus two versions of iPhone. One bigger with "everything" and the other one
