Hello there,

i am designing a website in iWeb. I was just wondering if anyone has done some of there own and would like to post it up? /

Well I've done some experimenting in iWeb, I came up with this website www.martin_somora.szm.sk The greatest think about iWeb that it took me about one hour with absolutely no knowledge of webdesign. Take a look tell me what You think! It's not in english:rolleyes: but hopefuly sometime it will.....

I published the site to a folder and uploaded it via FTP using Golive, with some minor repairs. Althougt the website doesn't work very good with browser other than Safari!!!!

As far as my experience goes there's no way You can paste a html code into iWeb {hope someone says I'm wrong;) }.

Slowly I'm getting really fed up with the web pages where You can see from the first moment it's iWeb. But I've also seen some that You can@t tell the diffrence. Any opinions on this issue?

Here's my website:
Anyone knows if it is possible to add a page for people to leave feedback, or a forums and stuff?

So far the answer is no, although maybe it could get added in at a future time.

I just made a site; it took literally 15 minutes so don't judge it too hard yet:
site

I have one I've been working on for a while in GoLive, here, and while I think it looks better, it certainly took more work with a steeper learning curve. I forsee in the future doing more with iWeb and less with GoLive, as my time constrains increase.

hello all,

i have a problem installing iweb, i have os 10.3.9 which it says it needs, when i got to install it an error message comes up saying error with package??? any ideas??? i went to install it on tiger and it works fine?? any suggestions?????

johnnyjibbs, try dragging com.apple.iWeb.plist to the Desktop whilst iWeb is closed. :)
I've tried that over and over, repaired permissions, restarted... nothing. I'm not the only person with this problem, but the reported workarounds don't work for me. In its current form, 1.0.1 is still unusable for me, and I've now got the install disc back so I might reinstall 1.0. Just hope that it doesn't delete my site...

That's kind of put me of playing with iWeb - all the templates are very very similar (and obviously iWeb). A compromise of having something so simple to use I guess

in the update iweb 1.01 or wateva, is there any more funtions or does it just fix a few bugs??? cheers

honestly, who cares about the design of my website where i show some family pics and mountainbike pics? (the pics are crappy anyway.)

it's a site to allow people i know to see pictures i took on a vacation. that's it. any time spent on design is a waste of time.

and that is what iWeb is about. everyone can have a website.

if you want unique design then
1.) don't surf on average joe's iweb sites
and 2.) use something else to create them. if you want to show grandma your vacation pictures use iWeb.

Well, actually you can. Here's one of my iWeb sites. Note the last page 'Contact'. Now, I'll admit that I had to do a little bit of hacking to get this, but it works.

What I did was to add the email form to the html after publishing the site. I keep a master of that page separate from the site so it isn't overwritten when I publish the site again. This makes it possible to create pages like these and simply add them back to the site after publishing. Of course, this isn't for people who don't want to get their hands dirty, so to speak.

But, then again, neither is my latest endeavor. I've been exploring what it takes to make new templates. I've successfully created one new template, but it's hard work. However, the fact that it can be done shows that before too long there will be new templates for sale, and maybe even a template building tool. Whether such a tool will come from Apple or a third party remains to be seen. (Of course, iWeb itself is the ideal template building tool, if only Apple would have implemented it that way...)

Thats really good, does it require a lot of knowledge of html to do that ?

It wasn't too hard. I wrote the html for the form separately and got it to look like what I wanted. Then I created a blank page in iWeb (I used a photo page for this one). Checking the html, I found the code for the photo section and deleted it. I replaced it with the form html. I then had to do a little bit of tweaking and such to get the form to appear exactly where I wanted it to on the page. But, once I did it, I simply save the page and never have to deal with it again.

iWeb can publish to any mounted disk, so if the server you want to publish is mounted then you can publish it in the directory. I have a website host at my .Mac, and regisiter the domain with network solutions to point there, cost like
$10.

http://www.planetresearch.com

this is made with iWeb.

my planetresearch is hosted on a differnet part of my iDisk than iWeb naturally posts so i mount the drive and post to that folder.

if you cannot mount a folder on the server, then creat a folder in your computer then ftp it over.

I ran into this problem too. The way I think I solved it was by first reapplying the update. Try that and see if it words. The next thing I tried was turning automatic iDisk synching off (unmounting the loacl idisk). The thing is that I combined that step with deleting my "Web" folder from my iDisk, which forced iWeb to re-upload all the files. That seemed to do the trick and I can now update my iWeb site.

Please be sure to make backups before trying any of this.

I'll ask my questions while this thread is hot. I had my site, www.aaronapter.com, designed for me a year and a half ago. I haven't updated it because it is all in flash and I know jack about web design. I don't care so much about losing the fancy transitions on my page and I just want something that still looks hip but simple for me to update. Of course I want the same address and not a .mac address. Would someone take a look at my site and tell me if I could create a page with the same type of material using iweb? Thanks.
