personally, i dont think they should wait untill the official SDK, but i do have logic behind my thoughts,

In my opinion, I'm pritty sure that apple is going to release a 1.1.4 or something anyway to accommodate for installing apps into the ipod/iphone so we might as well have it now

That may be true, but if they don't post how to jailbreak or files to do it, Apple probably won't plug the hole in whatever firmware will be required for third party applications. They are trying to keep their point of entry a secret from Apple until third party apps are officially available. So that there is less chance that the next firmware update will patch the security breach they've found.

my thoughts is that if a bunch of hackers managed to do it, i dont think its beyond the relms of possibility that the people who made the firmware to realise their blunder and patch it anyway.

if they really wanted to keep it till 1.1.4, they should have kept shtum about the whole thing as now that its known that there is a way of unlocking it, apple will be on the lookout for it

The bottom line is that these people, whose generosity we benefit from so much, clearly know what they are doing.

We are not privy to what they know nor to what they have found in 1.1.3. The one thing we do know is that they have decided that its a good idea to wait...

If any of us think we know better, then please feel free to release the jailbreak that you've come up with.

If you haven't then I'd say be grateful and trust those who know what they are doing.

This is obviously not entirely relevant, or else it would be a common solution, but how exactly does system restore work? Will it restore to factory settings, or factory setting + latest firmware? If it restores to factory settings, then it would be a good solution for anyone with PA623LL iPods.

I've read that it will restore to the original factory setting. But then to reupgrade you'd have to repay $20 for those applications ????? Or what ?!!
