Yeah but I heard Apple is still not allowing Facetime over 3G on 7.0, I guess I'm just gonna sit tight for 8.0.1. I heard rumors that, that's gonna allow facetime over 3G.

It can jailbreak iPhone 3GS (with old bootrom only)

So in addition to the models I listed earlier, it also works if you have a 3GS with the old bootrom. Sorry, I'd forgotten about those!

Considering there's about 10 threads asking the same question right below and 2-3 at least every day I dont think you would have a hard time finding this info with a 5 second search.

And we are at fault for always answering the questions instead of a simple "use the search button" reply.

You can jailbreak a 3GS on 4.1 with sn0wbreeze 2.0.1, but apparently it has to already be jailbroken on 3.1.2, so yes and no.

what about if a 3gs is jailbroken on 3.1.3 ?? i need iOS 4 ! (jailbroken)

sure there are probably 20 topics on "Is 4.1 firmware Jailbreakable yet?" on the main page alone, but...with such famous thread titles as "Oh Man! I think I messed up!" or.."Help please... I upgraded my iphone now what?" or.."I tried to jailbreak my phone but it keeps getting stuck at DFU, wtf!"

I have to agree with this observation. I search the forums for info & like everyone else have to wade thru' thread after thread of misleading or nonsensical titles.

I belong to another forum ( a gaming site ) where you would be verbally thrashed for starting a thread with a non specific title. l should know as Ive made a few of my own clever titles, only to be flamed for doing so.

A word specific search is helpful but for general reading its kind of annoying to have to wade thru' so much fodder every time I open a particular subject.

I 'spoze its the cross to bear for a popular & interesting site with many a member...

Does the phone have old bootrom? If yes, you can install spirit2pwn from Cydia. Then, you can install custom firmware, from pwnagetool or snowbreeze. Before you do that, make sure you have SHSH blobs for JB able firmware, 4.0.1 or below, in case something goes wrong and to you to restore to them. Otherwise, you will have to restore to official 4.1 firmware and loose your JB.

Will this method work on an iPhone 3G?

My early-model iPhone 3G has been unbearably slow since the 4.01 update, but I can't update using redsn0w because I need to preserve my T-Mobile unlock.

IIRC, PwnageTool can modify the ipsw to prevent the baseband update, correct? But will it work on an iPhone 3G?
