I did the jailbreak a few days ago at jbme. Had issues, so I did a restore and restore from backup. Went back to jbme today and so far everything seems stable.

the wife and I jailbroke our iPhones with jailbreakme and had nothing but issues (reboots, freezes, shutdowns etc) so I used the redsnow one yesterday. Not one reboot or freeze so far, I'm usually a pwnage tool guy, but I just couldn't take the buggyness of jailbreakme anymore. Go with the snow if you're having issues. It's really easy (obviously not quite as easy as jailbreakme) and is also untethered with the latest release (for iOS 4.2.8) :D

My experience has turned to disaster.. All app store apps have been deleted from my phone and I'm out of town away from restore with iTunes lol. Must have dl'd a theme that cydia doesn't like. Now I will limp along with bare bones until I can restore and try a different jb method besides jailbreak me..

Well, instead of trying to jailbreak, I signed up for dev license, and got myself iOS 5! Well worth it, love the new features, and Beta 2 is completely stable for me.

Of course it wouldn't be me without a scary moment - when installing the new firmware, for some reason my phone went dead. Upon disconnecting it, I could not get it to turn on at all - power+home didn't work, plugging a charger didn't work... Called Apple, after few minutes of trying I got a case # and was supposed to get a new phone at the Apple Store. As soon as I hang up, I connected it to my MBP to try to revive it one last time, and low and behold, the phone was in recovery mode even though the screen was blank. Anyway, it's working great, and I highly recommend iOS 5! It will be a fantastic upgrade.

Ok. I have a quick question. I have 4.2.6 and it is jailbroken. If I use pkgbackup and save all my packages from cydia then update to 4.2.8 and use redsnow or jailbreakme or one of those will all my packages and themes and settings be converted to the new updated version of my phone?

If you're on Verizon, don't use jailbreakme.com. It doesn't work. Regardless of what the Dev team says, it just doesn't work. I tried upgrading to 4.2.8, then jbme and I've done a full restore on 4.2.8 then tried jbme again...same outcome. Use redsnow instead. It works.

To answer your question, yes everything should convert to 4.2.8 and work fine.

Yep same thing here.. Jailbreakme 3.0 may install Cydia, but your Verizon iPhone running 4.2.8 will crash and hang ALL THE TIME!! Just restore and jB using pwnage tool 4.2(make sure you get the 4.2.8 bundle) and everything is perfect! No more crashing!!
