Jailbreakers paid money for the phone so it is their phone, which means they can do whatever they very well please with it. Now I fully agree with Apple denying service.... because while its your phone the company should not be responsible for you breaking it while messing around :p

dont be surprised if apple hasnt been working on something similar to the nexus one's and is ready to have it in place with the iphone fourth generation and OS 4.0

I will be surprised, actually. Not jumping on the flaming bandwagon (you're welcome, by the way) but as has been mentioned, this is an old article. I think if they were going to do something like this they would have done it last year.

If I'm wrong and they do, I'm going to be pretty disappointed. I know Apple is not going to be giving me all the features I enjoy on my jailbroken phone with 4.0 and I would hate to have to make the decision to either stay in the sandbox or void my warranty while enabling the wasted power of the OS.

I'd gladly void my warranty in order to JB my iphone.
I can care less if they deny service. Theres many places that will service JB and unlocked iphones without any problems and charging alot less than Apples out of warranty replacement fee of $200.

whatever...Apple has already told me that my 1st gen iphone isn't getting any updates. They won't do anything (even a wallpaper for my home screen).

A Little off topic, but in that little article, it says jb an iPhone is against the end user license agreement. I don't remember signing any agreement when I bought the phone (although Maybe I did) all I remember doing is signing the credit card receipt. Where is this end user license agreement? Is it something when you connect to iTunes or something? Also, how can apple tell me what software I have to run on a device that I own? Not like I'm renting it from them. Anyhow, if, for whatever reason they do make it so I can't upgrade, jb, that's fine. I'll go to android and call it a day. I'm not apple loyal in the least. Ill sell my 3gs and make enough to pay my ETF and buy the HTC evo! After being jb, I don't think I could run a stock phone again.
