I think the new iLife is going to come with a graphics program. Got that from the paint splatter on the invite. :D

Interesting take. We do know that Apple has been loving picking fights with Adobe of late. I could see a Photoshop elements type apps that works with iPhoto and also in the cloud via mobile me. Of course Photoshop isn't about splotches, that's more Mac Paint, and I can't see Apple releasing an Illustrator type program unless its in conjunction w/ a tablet.

I think if a new version of iLife is released, we can expect a big update to iWeb. Just like Apple rewrote iMovie in iLife '08, I think they will rewrite iWeb this time around. The fact that there were so many issues with the last version (iWeb '09) and they only issued 1 update, makes me think maybe they are focusing on a completely new version, instead of fixing the current version. You can see from the iWeb support forums that there are TONS of issues with iWeb.

I feel like iWeb started out well but they just kept adding more and more features and now its kind of an unusable program. (Its usable for a few sites, but after that you'll start to see lots of issues)

I doubt we'll see anything iPhone. I think iphone 4 will be like iphone 2. Majorly different from previous versions. Apple has alot of catching up to do with Android. I think that the tablet will be big, and iPhone 4g will be big, so they will both have separate events. Plus I dont expect apple will demo half a phone. Especially with all the rumored hardware enhancements. I think iLife is logical if it involves the tablet.

Cool, yeah new 64-bit iLife would be cool, just cos. A graphics app would be a nice addition also - would be interesting to see what a first release would look like.

Having been working with iWork in a Windows-heavy environment for about 4 months now, the only sort of update for iWork I'd really care for is improved compatibility with MS Office. High on the list would be exporting fonts properly for Windows, ability to save as .docx, etc., NOT adding a line after every table on every save as .doc for Pages, ability to change default font in Numbers from Helvetica Neue (which no one on Windows has ffs), handling of Gridlines vs cell borders in Numbers so that it works with Excel, better handling of PowerPoint Master slides on import and export.

Of course I've submitted all that as feedback, so it should happen .

Edit: oh, and, seeing as they just irked me again, I add: support for > 256 columns, 65535 rows (and significant speedups to boot), and not messing up sheet names on export to Excel.

If iPhone OS 4.0 were tied to new hardware, it wouldn't be unveiled before new hardware was announced. Besides, that would be 100% dumb.

Not really - announcing a new OS with some really cool features is one way to slow Android adoption - they want to get people to wait for a new iPhone; companies do this all the time to spread FUD.

Would be nice if Apple would stop "innovating" new crap noone asked for (like faces in iPhoto) and add some of the basic features that have been missing since forever that other software already supports.

Was trying to use iMovie 09 the other day and man is it hard work to achieve some basic things, like say, i want to add a picture to my movie, but NOO you cannot do that without using iPhoto. The picture was a quick internet grab and i do not want to have to dump it in iPhoto to import it and then have to remove it afterwards. I would like to be able to just drag it from my desktop into my project pane in the part of the video i would it to appear. And even when i did use the iPhoto method, the iPhoto importer did not work and would not show the picture as if it never existed.... ugh.

Its just like the finder after god knows how many years still sucks arse, but yet they got time to add lots of crap to iTunes which i hardly ever use. Or the damn cursed iPhone which i do not have or need.

Finish the damn missing features / tools / functions of Max OS X and its apps already.

32" with webcam and I'll be happy as a clam...

It's only been 5 years or more since the 30" was introduced!!!
If they're gonna release monitors, a new 30" (2560x1600) or a 27" (2560x1440) would be more likely. I'm hoping for either.

My thoughts for the 27th:

1. Tablet.
2. Vague details about iPhone OS 4.0, 3.2 released that day.
3. iLife/iWork 2010.

Does anyone recall if previous iLife updates coincided with revised hardware?

I too am looking for a Arrandale MBP.

This makes complete sense. The Tablet is supposed to run the Kernal of the iPhone OS, so a new version seems likely. We have heard reports of a Touch enabled iWork, so again a new version is possible.

4.0 Beta should be released to developers the same day, most likely. I hope they changed a llllllllllot. Ugh. 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 all look alike. I'm sick of looking at the same stuff. Thx Goodness with can jailbreak.

theory

Based on the invitation, it does seem like Apple is reinventing the "Paint" type of application... and the best hardware to use for it would be the iTablet (or whatever it's called).
