wow i have not seen one in a while that hasnt been dropped 8 zillion times and looks like a battered oj simpon ex wife, even covered by a case from day one there just arent any out there, if you keep it for this long and still leave it unatended youre an idiot! and i dont want you pulling out your open-box-as-new ipod nano from 2003, i dont care youre weird for still having that thing give-it-away … you have never seen it get hot let alone become a fire hazard in the 8 years you have hade it… the jap gov can press on this ( )*( )

One, the nano was first released late 2005. Second, the time between 2003 and now is not 8 years.

Wow... All the racist quips here are incredible. It's sad that the MR forums have gone so far downhill in recent weeks.

Why does this only happen to Japanese people? I think this is the first question that needs to be answered.

I think we are ALL the victims of poor Apple designs. 1st gen nanos, early MagSafe power adapters, swelling mbp batteries, iPhone 4, and MacBook plastic keyboard covers that cracked.

I used a first generation iPod nano for four years, never had an issue with it. But I just replaced it for a fifth generation iPod nano about eight months ago.

When you look at the cost of housing, the most expensive electronics are very cheep. The cost of any device you buy is not what you pay in the store, it is paying for a place to keep it.

Homeless people in Japan pay more rent on a card board box than most Wealthy Americans.

I cant beleive this! Those nanos are 5 years old and the issue has been adressed and now the japanese GOVERNMENT thinks they have the right to press apple over it NOW. ITS A LITTLE TOO LATE!!!!

Uhhmmm... First of all, like nobody uses them. And second it looks terrible.

Please remember the order of operations, Charge Nano, Pull pin, count to three (depending on fuse length), throw Nano, duck!
Thank you for making me laugh harder than I have all week. But seriously, they're worried about a product released several years ago?
