I find it most interesting that many feel that you must have the latest and greatest.

IMHO, you purchase a good quality item and it lasts you for years. When the device wears out, you upgrade to a newer version/model. Then again, I have computers that are older than some on this forum. :)

That's the point. How do we know the fires also aren't user error?
 
iPod nano 1st gen recall in Australia.

I received a recall email from Apple In late 2011 regarding the 1st gen iPod nano overheating battery issue. All I had to do was have it packed and posted to Apple (free of charge at my post office) and a couple of weeks later I received a current model iPod nano by courier! A pretty good deal but I miss having the 1st gen in my collection of Apple goodies.
