😳 OMG

Um.. Jason if by any chance you're reading this.. I am genuinely glad you got this job, happy for you. Whatever dumb "tier" of a celebrity or actor you are, as if such things mattered. 🤣 Ultimately it's just meaningless categorizing.

It's been a long time since I've seen the Sarah Marshall movie, I barely remember it tbh. 😬
Oh snap!

Since its the producers of Ted Lasso will this also be a giant Apple commercial? It was hilarious to me that the season finale of Ted started with him using a new iPhone for like 3-4 minutes.
Yep.
Uh, yeah? Hence his starring and producing in dozens of popular entertainment vehicles in the last decade and TV+ now hiring him with alongside their proven, ward-winning talent to do the same? "Good one, ha ha"
Like several have stated. He’s a b list actor at best. Not a lot of talent. Funny how people say Ben affleck is a great producer and still a talentless on the screen. Your argument is invalid

Forgetting Sarah Marshal, I Love You Man, The Five Year Engagement, Jeff Who Lives At Home, and more. He was on a roll back in the day. I wish we’d see more of him these days, but maybe after this series that’ll change.

I have recently watched such great shows like as Mare of Easttown, Squid Game, Unbelievable, The Queen’s Gambit, Harlots, The Boys, etc. All from Netflix, HBO, Amazon, and Hulu.

Users here tend to trash these services because supposedly their catalogue is filled with crap, but I have never found anything as captivating or entertaining on Apple TV+.
TV+ is a tier or two below these services. That is reflected in its price

I think the filled with crap comment is totally fair and when people make that comment it doesn’t mean there’s nothing good on those services.
The comment is normally made when people say there isn’t enough content in ATV+.There’s heaps of utter rubbish on Netflix and Amazon, that’s not to say I don’t watch a lot of good stuff on both of those services as well.

It's called art imitating life. People actually use their iPhones. I don't get why that would be funny.

Actually it's a tier above, and right now they are putting out A+ content faster than the rest. But the apple TV+ price reflects the lack of crap new content and back catalogue. I'd gladly pay for just a few shows off of Netflix and lose access to all the **** for $4.99 a month.

I’m subscribed to all, TV+ has way less content (which is important for a sub platform) and a lot less range in its content.
Compare that to HBO which has all the Ghibli movies, day and date with new WB movies, huge range of anime from Crunchyroll, all of HBO hit shows etc…

You lost me at Squid Game, what a horrible rip-off (despite the producer's denial). I have, on the other hand, greatly enjoyed The Morning Show, Ted Lasso, and For All Mankind. This is not to say that AppleTV+ content is superior to those other services, but its top-shelf original material is rapidly catching up with them.

Of course, it remains to be seen whether AppleTV+ can compete with some of the massively expensive original content that Netflix and Amazon plan to release within the next year.

Dispatches from Elsewhere was great, it was a bit different and all the more enjoyable for that. Difficult to describe it, a good-natured fantasy mystery drama with whimsical humour? Sadly it wasn’t widely available in the UK.
Apple should let him write and produce something himself again, as well as starring in this new vehicle.

Netflix and Amazon have some great shows. I think the difference is that Netflix and Amazon also have a ton of mediocre shows, and Apple TV+ doesn't; almost all of its content is good.

Seriously?! Give me a break… most of the shows on TV+ are pretty bad, review sites and viewers alike have expressed their dissatisfaction. Most of my friends have or had 1 year for free and the universal opinion was that there was nothing worth watching.

the universal opinion was that there was nothing worth watching.

I mean, more power to them, but… most of the things I've watched were good or excellent.

  • For All Mankind season 1 was outstanding. Season 2 was a little weaker, IMHO
  • Ted Lasso season 1 was fun (haven't watched season 2 yet)
  • Tehran season 1 was great; not quite as good as Homeland but pretty close
  • The Morning Show season 1 gets really good after the you-know-what scene
  • Defending Jacob was good; it had some pacing issues, IMHO
  • Little America is fantastic
  • Mythic Quest is hilarious
  • Calls was great
That said:

  • Trying was… OK. Not bad, but also neither particularly funny nor insightful
  • Central Park doesn't have me hooked
  • The Problem with Jon Stewart… wasn't bad per se, but it doesn't quite seem to know if it wants to be Last Week Tonight or 60 Minutes

Your friends probably never actually tried watching anything. There is so much good stuff on TV+ with a lot more on the way.

Such a great value for $4.99 a month, or $50 a year, or included in with an Apple One bundle.

But then again people waste their time on reality tv garbage which probably taints their ability to judge if scripted shows are good or not.

I do like For All Mankind and The Morning Show, I think they are good shows. Ted Lasso and M. Quest are great. Little America felt too forced for me. Which brings me to say: there is a range of quality/entertainment in the platform, everything is not good, just like in Netflix or Hulu, or any other.

IMHO what’s important to a sub platform is how often new quality content is being delivered. Right now TV+ has been delivering at least one new episode of a quality show weekly for the last several months (I think since at least mythic quest season 2 started, and even before that most weeks had something this year) and the pipeline laid out so far doesn’t have that ending anytime soon.

if a platform doesn’t have new content coming out regularly then its only worth subscribing for a month here and there when you actually want to take the time and go through and watch that back catalog.

People will spend $20 on a new movie in theaters or new digital release for one ~2 hour adventure but then balk at paying $4.99 a month to have something new to watch weekly. (All ad free, in HD/4k, and downloadable to your iPhone/iPad for offline viewing btw)

HBO Max may have that back catalog but it is also 3 times as expensive (or double the cost of you want to sit through ads and skip the in theaters movies this year). It’s still a good deal, but if you don’t care about the back catalog then the cost for regular new quality content is steep in comparison.
