Please please please Apple release a Jet Black aluminum model just like the iPhone 7! I’d buy that in a heartbeat wouldn’t you? Even the stainless steel space black looks too grey.

I would doubt if it is even possible to create jet black finish on a Watch case. Maybe aluminum. Or other materials. Glass is not an option.

You're likely best directing you request to Apple, which they would likely never see your request on a tech forum. But I disagree, I think the space black Apple Watch is fairly dark for what it is. It does shift colors slightly depending on the lighting conditions.

Jet Black isn't that much different than the Space Black when you see them side by side. Personally, after using a Jet Black 7 Plus for a year and watching it turn into a scratched up mess, I never want to see a "Jet Black" Apple product again.

Wouldn’t work. The AppleWatch is too prone to scrapes and scratches due to its wearable nature.

The anodized aluminum model is prone to scratches, but the space black stainless has the diamond like carbon coating and a sapphire display which really helps with the scratch protection, which my space black Apple Watch has no scratches whatsoever to date.

However it has been stated by Apple themselves that a jet black attracts scratches. Furthermore, the finishing itself visually shows off scratches more easily.

Guys, this isn’t literature. No need to interpret my post. I’ll clarify.

I’m referencing how having a jet black AppleWatch is not feaseble. Why? Because having a jet black iPhone is a pain due to micro scratches and dents being quite visible.

An AppleWatch, by nature of being a wearable, would be much more prone to scratches and scuffs. That said, people would view the jet black finishing as deficient.

Yes I know we have Aluminum Space Gray. But it’s not the same finish as Jet Black.

IMHO, the Space black steel is not only the closest to what you’re looking for, but also the best finish Apple has ever made, both in terms of durability and aesthetics. It’s virtually unscratchable and also stunning. The OLED display melts into the chassis, I wish the Space Grey iPhone X used the same DLC process tbh :(

I completely agree. The stainless steel Apple Watch black is not the most popular choice because of how it pairs with bands, but if somebody truly Wants the utmost protection, that would be the space black stainless steel watch with the Diamond like carbon coating being superior paired with the sapphire display.

Which is exactly why I referenced the space black stainless Apple Watch earlier, because it is more prone to damage being something that's worn on our wrist daily. And that's the only reason why Apple went with a diamond like carbon coating on the space black, is the added protection. The anodized aluminum
Used on the Jet Black is an entirely different process, which obviously doesn't have the protection DLC does.

Agreed, but if OP is mentioning a Jet Black finish as the iPhone 7. That finish is not feasible.

I'm surprised that there's such an argument to the comparison of Jet black to space black Stainless steel. The OP made this comparison in his thread so I think the comparison is pretty relevant.

Even the stainless steel space black looks too grey.

And this... I think that the space black looks like the same color as the screen when it's off..... don't know how much blacker you can get though I've never put the space black AW next to the jet black iPhone so maybe i don't have a point of comparison.

In the end, I think the consensus is that a Jet black AW would get too many scratches and would look pretty terrible after some use.

Yeah, you and another few million people that paid top dollar for a sweet looking THIN paint job!

Ive lies about he paint and finish process stating the paint is through tiny pores (or something like that) that permeates the metal. Pure BS!

So glad I got the Matte Black. Still get your AppleCare+ with a lacquer type of protection over the Jet Black and sell it.
