I can't get past staring at that wall of porcelain. That non-human shade of porcelain. The shade of your teeth should never be whiter than the shade of the white in your eyes.

Previously it was only the Hare Krishna devotees who shaved their heads, now they have started a trend and everyone is becoming a closet transcendentalist ROFL

Jimmy - "Leave a job that pays me millions for doing absolutely nothing, I don't have even have to show up??? Yeah Right. If I learned one thing from my man, Eddy Cue - Take the money and stay!"

Well with that logic, they can afford to re-hire Wozniak, who could have an annual salary, have no official role, but be considered the un-official Resident Eater of the Cafeteria Twinkies.

" first pitching a subscription music service to Steve Jobs in 2003.'

No, NO! Absolutely not! People should own their music BOZO!

I had hoped that the original news-report had misheard the name of Jony Ive. Now, that guy leaving would be a plus for Apple.

Yeah, lets fire the whole crew Steve selected for apple, so the DNA thats left, will be gone. /s

Why? TC has done a solid job as CEO. Apple's revenue stream is more stable under his leadership, and he's also diversified Apple's income portfolio (e.g., revenue from services continues to grow).

He hasn't diversified Apple's income streams much.

If they make money with software and subscriptions related to iPhone, they don't actually diversify.

Yes, you can book it into a different category but it's still going to rise and fall with the iPhone.

Ive's an incredibly valuable asset.
What went wrong is giving him too much control. He will obsess too much and give form priority over function.
You need someone very vocal with a no-bullsh*t attitude to keep him in check, that's all.

The only problem since he took CEO position at Apple is that there's been product delays under his leadership but other than that idk

Disagree. You can shuffle any album on free, it’s a great way into customer loyalty and experience what they have to offer. I say this as a premium user BTW.

Spotify’s “discover weekly” continuously suggest new artists I have never heard of and perhaps would never hear of otherwise, and I actually enjoy their music. Apple Music recommends garbage or mainstream music that I’ve already heard or streamed and is generally just stuff they *know* you will enjoy, without any real risk or growth.

That's interesting. I'm a DJ and Apple music is constantly giving me new music. However I'm quick to thumbs down things that I don't like so now it know me now. I never hear "pop" stuff unless I've asked for it.

Except Woz would actually show up and want his opinions heard. If he wanted to be a figurehead at Apple, he would have done it years ago.
What has happened since Iovine came on?, except Apple buying his overpriced headphone business? (not saying that wasn't a smart move financially).
Has Apple Music changed? Gotten better? More attractive then other services?
I'm not saying he needs to rewrite the whole part of the business, but man, at least do something!

Jimmy was specifically hired to improve the Apple-musician relationship that got hampered in the early days of streaming (relative to the iTunes Store where margins were healthier)
Now that was for a large - if not the largest - part due to poor artist' compensation in which early innovator Spotify had a large role. Spotify was always tight on budgets mainly because it had to fight its way into the "free" music market (Napster/Youtube a.o.)
Now instead of taking the lead by showing how to revitalise the market and margins on streaming, Apple hasn't gotten any further.
They've frequently tried to uplevel the perceived value of content by making it exclusive, by adding radio and by skipping the free tier - but these efforts didn't work (enough) across the whole line for it to become a viable business.
Let alone to defy Spotify.
Eddy Cue has always been vague or absent to this - but never been able to solve this challenge in the first place.
Now by Jimmy's recent conclusion that streaming music cannot be a sustainable business on its own, he more or less gave up mentally and you could as well say he broke the psychological contract with his mission at Apple.
Even while the blogs were a little early with their announcements - it is a logical conclusion he made himself redundant.
The market assumes Apple to strive for a viable, autonomous streaming business - even while the Cook Board is always vague enough to divert responsibility/accountability.
The business failure described here doesn't imply Jimmy's departure because there are always names "too big to fail".
Apple has a few too many of those and they seem to make Jimmy feel comfortable without a real mission or challenge...

Good. Apple would be stupid to let him walk. The music industry is still heavily about relationships. Artists and moguls still rather make deals with someone they know. Or someone who was there for them when they were “nobodies”

Jimmy has been around the industry for decades. He has a lot of respect and great relationships with some of the best artists in the industry.

One thing Apple needs to do: get out of his way so he can make the necessary deals with artists and studio moguls.

"The bottom line is I'm loyal to anyone who makes me rich. I love money, and I really love musicians, especially if they bring me more money. That's why those articles annoyed me, because it had everything to do with reality. It made it out to be all about money, which is exactly right."
