It is all whiskey. Scotch comes from Scotland.

Waste of a perfectly decent whiskey on a palate that has no place near anything above Jack Daniels. It's not the best whiskey on the planet, but it's head over heels above JD.

EDIT: Damnit, should have known the noob bumped a 6 month old thread

If you want good scotch, 18 year old MacAllen.

My favorite is The MacAllan 18.

Also Lagavulen, 16 years...very distinctive. And for something a little lighter, Dalwhinney is great.:p

Talisker is probably my all time favorite right now, and Laphroiag is doing some very nice scotch (although not for the faint of heart). I haven't ventured around the highlands much, but naturally I've had Macallen.

I'm a Laphroiag guy. Peaty, smoky goodness. I do also enjoy a good Macallan and Talisker.

Actually, I'm back to exploring blended whisky a bit more again. It's an area I've ignored for a while, but I'm open minded. Haven't tried the JW Blue, but I thought the Black wasn't half bad.
