Leave the notch. The hole punch is much more distracting… like a bullet hole in the middle of the display.

Also, if this design is accurate, I’ll take it since iPhone4 was my favorite design but it also shows that Apple is fresh out of ideas. They‘ll need to move to a foldable screen cos they can only rehash old ideas so often.

Agreed.

If anything... put the hole-punch camera in the corner. That would be the least distracting to me.

But like you... I don't mind the notch. It's half the size of my pinky anyway.

I've already accepted that the tippy-top area of the screen is not active space. Clock, status icons, camera, speaker, notch, whatever. It's the utility closet. :)

I care about what's below that area... which Apple has actually increased when they introduced the taller aspect ratio. That's where the magic happens. It's the living room.

I never understood the people who scream "the notch is stealing my screen!!!"

:p

That's going to be one thick iPhone if there's no camera bump.

It's just Prosser with more attention getting speculation for clicks.
I assume the camera bump removal will be mostly thanks to periscope lenses not a thicker chassis

Sometimes they can't even guess what's coming a month away. I wouldn't put much stock into a rumor a year away.

True.. but it also throws some perspective on what "could be" and provides motivation to keep my current setup going until a bigger step up.

I hated the protruding camera when it arrived, but now think that getting rid of it is a bad idea. The bump virtually disappears when using a cover and who wouldn't use a cover with the expensive mini-computers that iPhones are these days. Getting rid of the bump just makes the phone + cover combination awfully thick.

As long as there is a port for charging I’m good. No port means no iPhone. At least, apple should allow data transfer through that giant MagSafe slab smh. If there is no port, 1TB option would be useless. Get back to 16GB.

That would not stop me from buying the iPhone 13. I had the Xs since launch and I am noticing a huge drop in performance and battery life.

The guy who predicted and showed what the new iPad Mini would look like, along with many other Apple devices months in advance, which came true. Shows us the iPhone 14 and damn it's a nice design. It's enough to make me hold out on the iPhone 13.

So no Face ID basically. I highly doubt that.
You didn't watch his video or read the article then, he said Face ID will be under the screen, and considering you can now buy Android phones with the front camera under the screen that's not a far fetched idea. Neither would it it be far fetched for Apple to drop Face ID and use Touch ID in the power button.

Aren't we at the point in time where Apple is still dabbling with prototypes for a future iPhone 14 and where there's been no decisions yet?

No iPhone 14's design will be finalised and locked in now. They design the phones well in advance. They are probably working on which iPhone 16 design and up to have. iPhone 15 is probably finalised more or less.

Not if it also becomes heavier, because thicker + more battery life = heavier phone, while already being heaviest in class.
Titanium will make the iPhone lighter overall then the current models despite if it's thicker and has a bigger battery. Stainless Steel VS Titanium.

Nice looking phone. Seems like it would be worth waiting a year. If I were Apple I wouldn't be too worried though, plenty of people just buy whatever's new and/or are overdue for an upgrade. The 14 could be an even larger improvement than it looks to be aesthetically and I'm sure they'd still sell loads of 13's.

Just padding for an iPhone 13 letdown.…

They should just skip a year really. Marginal annual improvements make for snooozfest new product introductions.

I’ll stick with my 12 Pro until at least the 14. The 12 / 12 Pro is a great phone, and still selling very well. It is perhaps my favorite iPhone to-date.

I’m excited to see a transition to no-bump. I’m hoping that the Ti case won’t be a slippery as the stainless/glass of the 12 Pro. The major letdown of the 12 Pro is that it is as slick as snot without a case. I have mine in a leather case only so that it does not go flying out of my pocket when I sit down. Otherwise, I’d go caseless.

of course it’s a snoozefest for you and your 12 Pro 🙄🙄, but it’s definitely not a snoozefest for us with iphone 8’s and older or even for some iphone XS users

Looks great but:

- never was a fan of the round volume buttons, the elongated ones follow the shape of the phone much more nicely;
- if the cameras are flush, they should rearrange them and the flash and Lidar a little to make the layout look more deliberate, without the bump encasing them they just look randomly plopped down in the corner of the phone;
- part of the appeal of the black iPhone 4 is, to me, the contrast between the deep black glass and the light stainless steel, I don’t want the black model to once again have dark sides

The display and back sandwiching the frame is also really reminiscent of the iP4.

Yup. Loved my 4S, and still using my SE 2016 because of it. Hilariously, I get lots of compliments on my SE 2016 now. I point out the bump and moron Siri button on the new phones, and people go "oh yeah... didn't think of that, but yeah!". Folks like my flat SE flat design and solid grip. "What's old is new again".
