I have had numerous people ask me how to roll back to IOS 6 as they didn't like the problems associated with ios 7 - only to find out they were not allowed to.

Why would Apple stop rollbacks, if it was so confident in its software?

If the UI is such a rock in the shoe, perhaps you could try to jailbrake it and customize it to your preferred style?

----------

Theres a certain spirit and feeling you got from using the old iOS that made you fall in love with it, but for a lot of us that spirit no longer exists in iOS 7. It's kind of soulless. :(
I think I know how you feel... I meditated on this and the revelation is that in the world of 2013+ technology will be so ubiquitous that the only way you'll be able to live with it is for the tech to be "soulless" or as minimal standing-out from life as possible. The design idiom is that the tech is invisible and intuitive, what is what Mr. Ive said on the video about Touch ID.

I'm not calling anyone stupid but I am surprised by how many people are unable to understand the difference a UI can make to someones experience. I'm not talking about the obvious stuff like hating the way something looks, I'm talking about how a product makes someone feel. It's markings on an electronic device!

I suggest that that this is a bit frightening to use such words to describe such insignificant stuff.

And what words are left to describe the truly significant, if they are used in relation to the trivial.

Just one man's opinion, of course....:)

It feels like androids and windows phone to me so if u do switch ur not going to see much of a difference man

Lets just step back and contemplate what you are saying "spirit" "soulless".....It's a bloody phone and UI/OS, its not a person!

You guys mock me, but Steve himself said similar things about Apple products. I bet you never laughed at him. :D

For me I created a black background image and made that the background for my screen. My lock screen background did not change from a personal photo.

I increased contrast and turned on bold text. Personally I like it this way better than iOS 6.

Some of the problems listed below are not going to change. In this business the companies have to create demand or their sales go flat. They do this by releasing new products. In our case that is iOS and hardware that runs it.

Otherwise we all would still be using the first version of anything and no company could long afford to stay in business. Heck even typewriters evolved over the years until they were no longer needed.

Played with a Windows Metro phone Saturday. It is ugly and difficult to use. Android devices leave me cold.

Look at it this way, if you move to a different system you will need to re-purchase all your applications again for that phone OS. Give it some time and wait and see what the jail-breakers can do with iOS 7.

I turned on high contrast and bold font. It's a LOT better. I'll apply this fix on my wife's phone as well.

But what's this whole reboot to go to bold font thing about?:confused: Kinda reminds me of Windows 3.1. Want to change fonts? Reboot. Want to change ip address? Reboot. Want to install a trivial bit of software? Reboot. I sincerely hope Apple fixes the reboot to go bold flaw by iOS7.1!

He will see plenty of Difference actually:

Windows Phone- You know you're using a Windows phone when you go to the Appstore and there aren't as many Windows Apps as there are on the Apple or Android app stores.

Android Phone- You know you're using a Android phone immediately when you can't uninstall the bloatware that the carrier loaded on your phone. Nova Demo anyone? how about Sprint Nascar? I know we all LOVE Nascar

P.S. Rooting and loading a custom ROM is not a normal user's option. I'm sure all the things people don't like with iOS 7 will also show up in Jailbreak tweaks but I'm not bringing that up either because its not for everyone.

Well, I almost die of laughter everytime when I think about the hockey puck mouse.

Dude, that guy is dead and your granny OS is too. Actually, your idol said it better than anyone: "Death is very likely the single best invention of life. It's life's change agent. It clears out the old to make way for the new.” -Steve Jobs

Stop living in the past.

They're good at adding solutions for non-existent problems in recent years.

My 2 pet peeves with the iPhone/iTunes for quite some time now is this:

The column browser mode in iTunes is the only useful view. Why default to the lousy album view and to add insult to injury, remove the column view all together with devices? It's unintuitive and there's no question it's removed previously not broken functionality.

The Podcast App. pointless and for anyone who regularly wants to listen to long playlists of DJ sets released as Podcasts along with mixes from other sources, forcing me to use a pointless waste of space to listen to them is annoying and unnecessary.

what I don't understand is why cry about it when you want to leave?
It's a plea for help and serves as cheap therapy. All based on a dislike for how the UI looks on a smartphone. MR is full of such threads that are meant to be the creator's personal chat room. Looking for attention. Any kind of attention - nothing more.

Since he was just a smart guy who ran a successful company...and not a god worthy of worship, of course I laughed at him.

Well, to be absolutely truthful...for the most part, I didn't care much at all about what he said.

Bye. Go to android/windows for a few months and find out it isn't as polished or refined as iOS and come back in a few months :)

I switched to Android in January and it was better than iOS for me. I went to WP8 after that and I'm probably going back to Android. You fanboys need to stop worshipping your iDevices. I'm not an Apple hater, in fact this is being typed on a MacBook. I just don't understand what some people do with it. Don't spend the money for a Facebook machine, buy it if you need it.

To be fair, 'spirit' is not limited to the living. Spirit: "those qualities regarded as forming the definitive or typical elements in character" Something almost as sentient as a device can almost definitely have spirit (i.e. Siri, the way something looks and feels).
