I saw the worst executive level strategy powerpoint presentation I've ever seen in my life today. Literally it was put together by what can only be described as a flunked out business studies student who had done two lines of coke and stolen some clip art. I had to buy and drink a whole bottle of wine it was that bad.

This is worse than that powerpoint.
Everyone can spout a set of words in a pleasing order. Heck, there are free services that do this very well. If they were REALLY on the cusp of releasing something world changing, they’d be quiet about it (because saying anything gives competition ideas) and then just release it.

But, that’s what you do when you have confidence in your design and your vision. This is just “Hey, what we’re doing… man, you are SO going to love what we’re doing. Just you wait.” Then, they release oh, I don’t know, something like a Segway. :)

Can people stop being so negative about a device we know absolutely nothing about, besides the fact that it's meant to be a less intrusive form of technology? It's not because the Humane AI device was terrible that this should have the same fate. I'd say Ive and Altman are another calibre of people. But it's good for people to try new things, we should be excited to see what's coming, or at least be neutral for now.

Especially at an time when Apple's only new product in 10 years (VP) is one of the most niche device they ever made, and is the opposite of what people want (or should have) in their life. Pretty much the opposite of what the Apple Watch tried to do. And Meta Glasses are not for everyone. I paid 3000€ for eye surgery, I'm not putting glasses back on my nose. So I look forward to different form factors.

I asked ChatGPT to "Create a image of Sam Altman as a siren luring retail investors to OpenAI's IPO" and it refused to depict him or OpenAI negatively, instead suggesting that I prompt it to show him as a "visionary figure guiding people toward the future of AI—without references to investors, IPOs, or manipulation".

And that's what it looks like.

whatever form this thing they are touting eventually takes, they have repeatedly said that the age of the mobile phone is over. so, whatever it is, it will be another Humane device. the only thing that is unknown is the shape and holdability/wearability of it.

im in favor of an apple Watch being just fine for any task that the altman/ives thing will be.

But come on, you have to admit this is just silly.
You’ll want to lick and bite a device that’s as peaceful as a cabin by the lake that will be introduced… at sometime in the future, not saying when but sometime, at a certain point in the future, maybe possibly, but we can’t tell you when, or what, or how…

What the?! Did they bring enough for the rest of class? 😶‍🌫️

I don’t want any tech when I’m at a cabin by the lake, and I don’t trust Sam Altman, no matter what he is peddling.

Um, they've said absolutely nothing about the supposed product itself, but have just "aspirationally waffled" on for a while.

It could be an electronic device, it could be a shoe, it could be an earwax cleaner.....

They honestly sound like some Arts Undergraduates who haven't yet grown out of thinking that smoking weed makes you more creative / deep / meaningful..
I read all the articles superlatives. Maybe it’s a happy sock.

Lack of trust is pretty high for both Elon and Sam! Privacy is one of Apple's strengths (or so they say).

Also - Apple's Cook, for all his faults, is no Steve Balmer. I don't think Apple is going to let someone else wrest control in any handheld (or laptop? desktop?) market. And while Apple's AI execution also has faults, Apple's hardware competency is too strong to fail.

IMO

Current devices and apps are like "walking through Times Square in New York" with flashing lights, crowds of people, noises, etc. It "doesn't make our lives peaceful and calm" or let us "focus on other stuff," which is what Ive and Altman wanted to address.
If you have an AI that you trust to do things for you and filter things out with "incredible contextual awareness of your whole life," then you can go for a vibe that's not walking through Times Square.

eh? so 'other stuff', which is not 'your whole life', is 'a vibe that's not walking through Times Square'? is he still going on about the Antichrist?
