In the iPhone 7 design video, he said the 7 is a deliberate evolution of the original iPhone design (2g). At the end of the video, he says the 7 is "the most singular and evolved representation of this design".

"This design".

IMO that clearly means that next year they will have an all new design. As if we didn't know already.

That’s a pretty big reach.

I feel there had only been slight variantions of three distinct designs: glass front with flat aluminum back (1 gen, 5, 5s, 6, 6s, 7); glass front with curved plastic back (3g, 3gs); and the glass sandwich (4,4s,8, x to an extent). You can remove home butttons and shift things around but generally the design has been consistent for 10 years. It’s not a bad thing and there are limitations imposed but utility. I just think it’s funny how we and Apple try to sell little changes as groundbreaking.

I bet next year we will see a thin rectangular shaped phone with rounded corners. I mean they have to move away from the form they have used since the first iPhone, you know, thin, rectangular, rounded corners.

Get a life, if you looking for excuses not to buy X this year please just say it don’t make crazy assumptions. I am not buying X its not a big deal.

Who made the crazy assumption? Why don’t you go back and see who is assuming things?
[doublepost=1508499265][/doublepost]This thread is MacRumours forum in a nutshell.

*user posts thread saying that next years iPhone will be a totally new design*

“You’re an idiot!”
“You are reading way too much into this”
“It was a throwaway comment dude”

*user is proven absolutely correct, exactly on schedule a year later*

“Well it was pretty obvious”
“DUH. Not exactly Nostradamus”
“WHY WOULD THEY MAKE A NEW DESIGN THE X IS ALREADY NEW”
“Everybody knew that it would be a new design”

Glad Ive didn't hint anything about next year. Am betting on no changes to the the external design of the X.

Agree, probably not.

However, since we're making predictions, I expect that Apple will release the iPhone 9 next year (a final refinement to the “original founding design”) and an iPhone X plus (because let's face it, a lot of plus users are disappointed by the width of the X, right?) then in 2019 the iPhone XI (which nearly everyone on the planet will pronounce “ex eye”, and which will finally get rid of the notch), in 2020 Apple Glasses and Apple Car, which will then never be updated because in 2021 you’ll be able to upload yourself into iCloud at which point hardware becomes irrelevant and we can all stop arguing over hardware predictions. I recommend that everyone following this thread rewatches the iPhone X design video carefully where you'll see that Jony Ive drops some strong hints that lays this all out pretty clearly.
