I feel like this is the NEXT/Jobs in the making where Apple buys Love and IVE takes over. Apple isn’t spearheading the revolution anymore. Simply refining. Time to return to the fold and lead!

Apple desperately needs a new visionary, but please not Ive. We JUST got our ports back and I want to keep them. No amount of cutting size will ever be enough to satisfy him, a man in an never ending thinness war not with an industry, but with himself.

”You disgusting fat slob. How could ANYBODY love a bloated, 1 mm thick phone? Just looking at you makes me want to puke."

I give you the iMac G3:

Oh yes, I remember my smoke-colored iMac. I kind of wish I had kept it. 🤷‍♂️

The only AI device I need is my earbuds connected to my phone, or at best a clip-on mic/speaker so I can ask my phone questions when it's tucked away in a bag or pocket.

The idea of another autonomous device not leveraging the supercomputer in my pocket already is ridiculous. No chunk of hardware introduced today is going to compete with or augment my phone to a degree justifying its existence.

On the other hand, modern iPhones got obnoxiously huge, thick, heavy and with growing camera bump. And seems like no one really cares about that except some people here on Macrumors who tell that 16 is impossible to hold singlehandedly.

Yet I agree if Ive takes the place those will still be fat, huge and thick pieces of glass and metal but maybe slightly thinner and made from recycled cola can aluminum so that they will be also foldable in pockets, unfortunately with no way to unfold

These two guys have the intellect, reputation, and access to capital. In a sense — better changes than anyone to challenge smartphone with a new device.

Yet, that is a hopeless effort: Smartphone ecosystems are enormous enough to be impossible to replace. You have to replace it all to get someone give up their phone. Before that point it is all about carrying one more device.

Without Steve Jobs controlling Ive he started doing rubbish designs. After Ive left Apple hit the undo button several times.

I've yet to see an AI device that isn't a grift. Rabbit R1, Humane Pin, Brilliant Labs Frame, all of them are pretty bad.

How hard is it to make an AI enabled phone or watch? I understand that maybe Phones are an impossible market to enter in a meaningful way (unless you have big backing like Nothing does), but smart watches are not nearly as mature a market.

Ive is a genius.
he had flops but he also singlehandedly created Apple’s modern design concept. All of Apple hardware is still following his design guidelines

Agree. He is as big a part of why Apple are where they are now as anybody else.

Honestly he doesn't get the credit he deserves.
