Just imagine that he said take it apart and anodize it. There are companies that do this already with other apple products.
Wait til you see the "iOS in the Car" start to roll out. Then we'll have car buffs bitching about Apple.

While this is cool, I just don't see where it deserves as much coverage as it's gotten. Some rich guy is going to over bid for a one of a kind Mac and write it off on his taxes.....meh.
I jumped the gun earlier when I criticized Ive for 'designing' this Mac Pro, when it was MacRumors that took some liberty with the way they titled the article.
The Sotheby auction page reads "Selected and customised by Jony Ive and Marc Newson for the (RED) Auction 2013."
Kudos to Ive and Newson for making an effort to help Apple support Product (RED).

Pretty sure colorware won't charge you 40k for a red mac pro.
It looks good if you like red electronics.
I would not mind selling a wooden computer. I'm not kidding. (I have googled it)
But the money is going to charity so the cheaper way would just be less money for charity.

So Ive customized a product he no doubt was involved in designing in the first place. I fail to understand why people are getting so hung up on one word. OMG MacRumors used the word designs when they should have used customizes! What a travesty!

What we have here is a paintjob. And given apple have been selling the red line for years, it was not that difficult picking the actual colour.
