So Cook fired Ive by giving him a promotion and promoting the guy heavily involved with the UI design of iOS 7/8, Yosemite and Apple Watch. That sure is a weird way to show displeasure.

Seriously some of the "takes" people have on this are quite amusing.

Tim will never fire Jony in the normal "get out of the company now" fashion. Now Jony is out of the design decisions and has only a job description. All new product will be designed without Jony involved day by day, he will see the prototypes now and then, not everyday. He will travel and spend more time in England, as he ever wanted to do.

So, yes, this is Tim firing Jony, or Jony firing himself.

This makes no sense. The two people promoted to VP report to Ive. Phil Schiller has at least a half a dozen VPs reporting to him. Ive could easily be eased out of his duties without a promotion and the creation of a c-level position. Tim Cook doesn't seem like the kind of guy to create a bogus position just for no reason. Also, Ive sold his home in England and recently purchased a $17M home in San Francisco. Seems a bit odd to do that if he was planning on spending more time across the pond. Seems to me if anything this promotion means Ive has more power at Apple than he's ever had before.

After reading your signature, Tim Cook wants people to be killed. I didn't knew that, he sound like a terrorist talking about west. Sad, lost my idea on what to answer you.
