There sure is a lot of exclusivity associated with the Apple Watch. The lavish Edition, custom-made editions for celebrities and now these exclusive band colours for whatever reason. Apple used to be a lot more inclusive with their products, but the Apple Watch has turned this image upside down.

I agree with this and this screams Ahrendts is the mastermind behind it, however the marketing behind it is brilliant. Release everything to the masses from day 1 and it loses its novelty factor. Seeing glimpses of random bands is only building the cool factor/demand more and come holiday time you release the hounds. Almost a 2nd launch in some customers eyes.

Wow. Colored wrist bands. Fanboys will be hyping this as the greatest revolution ever for mankind.

Apple Watch

Still no interest in this thing. Charge every day, can't even use a full 24h cycle. Tiny screen to interact with. Mine would end up collecting dust. Better wait for next generation before even considering further.

For now, following combination works well,

On my left wrist,

On my right wrist,

How do we know these are "exclusive"? Exclusive to who? It doesn't seem surprising at all that Apple would bring more colors to the Sport bands.

Apple, the fashion company

Apple has the absolute right strategy for this. A multi billion dollar industry is going to pop up around watch bands. People like to express themselves through their phone cases but phones are put away in pockets and purses when not in use. A Watch is always visible on your wrist.

Apple has always been a fashion company, now it's just making it official.

Apple really pushing for this as a fashion device, I understand

Because as a practical device with poor battery and slow processor it's poor as a tech device

This is slightly O/T, but I find it interesting how Apple condemns Indiana for the law it passed, while Italy is a dangerous, hostile place for people who are openly gay. I have friends who moved from Italy to the US, and the situation in some parts of Italy is worse than in the South of the US. There is real violence toward gay people in Italy. Same sex marriage is legal in Indiana. Italy does not even recognize civil unions between gay couples. Indiana gets condemned and Milan gets a fashion show. I want to be very clear that I did not support the Indian bill, but people tend to have universal beliefs about Europe that aren't true. Italy is an outlier in a number of ways including LGBT rights.

I like the approach that Apple is taking. The really sad sales of Pebble and Android Wear so far (especially considering that they technically are feeding a much wider Android (and iOS - and Windows) audience) have proven that the market needs a good push and an awareness that probably not many brands can bring to this product category.

I wonder if they have all of those colors patented so they can sue anyone who makes bands in similar colors? :D

Ouch. Maybe you should just stop visiting the site. Especially if this is your attitude towards the products of the company that MacRumors reports on.
I don't know if you've noticed but the name of the site is Macrumors not Watchrumors.

I'd say they have, as well as 7000 Aluminium and Gold and SS.

Something to note: singer Sam Smith's Instagram post of his Apple Watch was "liked" by over 140K people and received 1,600 comments. That's esentially free advertising for Apple.

It's not even close to a second launch, much less anything of significance. The only thing new were some colors. Hardly a major role in fashion.

In fact the only reason this little tray of bands got noticed was the presence of Apple purple and the strength of the brand.

They're nice colors and all, but certainly not fashion news.

Funny how you don't care about the Apple Watch at all, but seem to have an attraction to it, seeing as you have commented on almost every article about it in the last week or so.

If you don't like the Apple Watch stories, go read your Apple news elsewhere. The site has evolved to highlight more than rumors about Macs over the years as new products have been introduced. In fact, why don't you visit www.applerumors.com, they have great news about ALL Apple products.

I really want navy blue, red, and blaze orange Sport Bands now.

It's like they used the "fill" command and clicked left-to-right on a color swatch.

Not really. It's about offering choice, and Apple is offering a wide array. If you're a normal income person and don't need the bling aspect of a gold watch, you can buy one. If you're a celebrity with income to support a gold edition, Apple has a model for you as well.

Whatever your income profile, any of the three watches perform exactly the same and offer exactly the same features.

Is there a good reason Apple should not also sell watches to people who have larger disposable income? Other than that you don't think it's right?

It's a business and Apple is running it extremely well. Smart move, in my opinion.

Damn... that seems so easy.

Put watch on celebrities' wrists and people will see it and talk about it.

Why didn't any of the Android Wear watchmakers think of doing that?

:D

I was laughing so hard I was practically crying when www.applerumors.com opened. Great, extremely true post #.

Knowing Apple, these are probably bands for Version 2 of the watch and the attachment mechanism will be changed so they won't fit the current version. You'll have to buy a new watch.
