Jony Ive Shares Thoughts on Design, Fashion and Apple Watch in Met Gala Interview

Yep. They don’t have jobs or personal lives. They just sit reloading the MacRumors home page waiting for the chance to pounce on Jony right?
YES

And a dartboard with a picture of Jony Ive on it with a poorly drawn mustache.

Sheesh! Don’t forget the voodoo doll of Jony too. I miss anything?
I think what you’ll find is the responses are often a reaction to being ripped off, with low specs and feature removal without explanation. After a while people get annoyed. People want to spend their money on Apple products because they like them. They want to feel like they are getting a good deal, not the best deal but a good deal.
If I’ve already spent £3000 on a computer I damned well have the right to moan about it if it doesn’t live up to reasonable expectations. I don’t need to be nickel and dimed for a peripheral on top of that. I don’t need to be told that the bloody thing is proprietary and can only be repaired by the OEM. I don’t need to be told by the OEM when I finally get there that I need to replace the whole machine as it’s more cost effective than to repair or that upgrade is impossible.

So you're taking action in your feeling that this multi billion dollar company is "ripping you off" and boycotting their products right? I know you're way too idealistic to give a terrible company like that your hard earned money

It should have been launched as a standalone device.....
Apple could have, but with current tech that would have made the device even thicker and bulkier than it already is, which is a complaint many have expressed about :apple:Watch v1 in the first place, however I personally truly believe wearables are the future of personal communication.

With continued miniaturization and vastly improved battery tech, both of which are coming down the pipeline in the not too distant future, wearables such as the :apple:Watch will become standalone devices that will not just augment iPhones, but have the potential to replace those 'bulky' smartphones altogether.

Most of the capabilities of current iPhones and more, on your wrist with Siri voice control for most functions and truly one-finger operation for some other functions, without the chance of dropping or misplacing the device, will be a convenience just too great to pass up in spite of a few things we'll have to sacrifice for now, such as screen size and a quality rear-facing camera.

Not bought an Apple device in a while. Next……….

Lol I was being purposefully antagonistic. But yeah. Apple's decision on things have been kinda...odd lately. Especially in the past year. Tablet market down? Increase the price of the iPad. Surely the problem people have had with the iPad and other Apple products was that they were too cheap

Lots of people still naively believe that Jonathan Ive is the one who designs things at Apple. I believe in those silent forces in their design lab who never get mentioned and have to feed this clown with ideas he gets credit for.

However, I do believe that he is the sole responsible for crippling many Apple devices with processes described as "thinning", "port reduction", ...

You know... I see Ive, Phil and Cue as Apple's Mccartney. Hair force one, the hardware engineers, other software engineers, Scott were Apple's Lennon.

When Steve was alive, there was a balance in power. Since he died, Cook had to be CEO (face of the company, not part of the brain anymore. Beancounter), Scott is gone, and Ive/Phil/Cue got way more power. The balance was destroyed.

Consequence? The best beancounter on the planet has no one to put him in check, and despite having the best software and hardware engineers in the world, they are powerless against Ive, Phil and Eddy. Everything that comes out of Phil's mouth is pure ********. Ive needs someone to control his genius otherwise it all becomes excessive and narcissistic (rose gold. It's pink, dude.). Cue... I know nothing about him, but I know that he was in control of the MAS and iTunes and he killed both of them, as far as potential is concerned.

Steve itself doesn't seem very important to me. Apple was 100% the work of fantastic talented people. Steve wasn't a great engineer, or a great designer, or great at management. But he was great at putting those Paul Mccartney in check.

We see the result in Apple having the best products and ecosystem (iPhone 6s/6s plus/iPhone SE/iPad Pros/rMBP/iMac) and also the most useless, overpriced, outdated, foolish piece of garbage in the whole tech industry (Every iOS device being sold with 1GB of RAM or 16GB of onboard storage, HDD Macs, Macs with TN Panels, cMBP, Mac Pro with rebranded cheapass """""""""firepros"""""" and not pro at all.).

It all makes sense to me. Seeing Ive in that picture only intensifies this feeling.

It's not that. It's that Tim Cook has no power. Nefarious forces took over Apple as Steve Jobs was dying. They are using Apple like they use everything else: for their agenda and as a cash cow.

Oh right, it didn’t read that way. (To me). Bottom line is that myself and a lot of people I know, which I understand isn't the entire worlds population, have the money to waste? on Apple products. But they seem to be making it harder than is necessary.
I don’t mind overpaying a littel for something but there’s a point when it starts to look like the customer isn’t that important.
Give me RAM for a premium over other manufactures and I’ll still buy it. But wildly over price it or make it so that I can’t replace it at all and I’ll keep my money.

I think Tim loves running a successful business more than anything. Steve loved running Apple more than anything.

What a boring and uninspiring outfit.
Would you be more impressed if he wore 501s and a black mockneck for everything?

Thinner Jony, thinner I tell you!
for no apparent reason, I can't not read this in Professor Farnsworth's voice Ō_Ō

Why after Steve Jobs died Jony is taking pictures everywhere and talking to any microphone he can find ? He looks like a fool. Steve would have fired him just for the camera bumps on both iPhone and iPad, MacBook without MagSafe and the iPhone battery bump. This guy lost his mind with Tim. They are the Kardashians of Silicon Valley.

Jony is no genius, ditto for Tim and all the management at Apple. They are totally replaceable. The only one that is irreplaceable was Steve. Steve without Jony and Tim was able to bring the Apple 1 and 2, Macintosh, GUI, MacPaint, MacWrite, Laserwriter, Next, Pixar etc. Jony was designing toilette brushes in england and Tim was an accountant for compaq.
All the current new product are just a continuation of what Steve Jobs started 30 years ago. This is why Jony or Tim without Steve are just regular workers that you can find in any great school. If Steve would be alive today and both Jony and Tim were dead, Steve would pick a great new designer and accountant and release amazing new product all over again. Tim and Jony left alone, are a total mess and basically worthless without adult supervision. They need a visionary CEO who tells them exactly what to do to produce something great. Please let's choose a young guy with a vision and make him the new Apple CEO.

Jony without Steve designed:

A Mac Pro that looks ok the first 5 minutes out of the box and as soon as you connects HDs and peripherals (since there are no caddies inside) you will have a tangled mess of cables and external HDs/SSDs all over your table or floor.

A MacBook with a USB-C port, no magsafe, slow, a 480p camera and again a battery that doesn't last 12 hours. Same problem as the mac pro, you can have all the ports if you connect a bunch of adapters and create a tangle mess on the table.

A watch that is slow, expensive, a battery that barely last a day and most important can't function on it's own since it needs a phone to work.

A slippery iPhone and iPad with a nasty camera bump that cracks, if you lay them of a flat surface.

A battery back with a nasty camera bump. Ive title of Sir should be stripped just for this abomination.

A horrible and slow IOS with transparency everywhere, Intelligible skinny fonts on top of white background, buttons that resemble plain text and keep disappearing.

A neutered file system and Mac OS X. Sluggish Apps and of course transparency everywhere and skinny fonts.

Tim Cook with Schiller gave us:

An old Apple display from 2011 for $1000 also called 'THE BIG APPLE MIRROR'

A MacPro for professional users with old components from 2013 at the same high price of launch

A neutered MacMini with 2 cores and soldered ram starting with 4GB of ram.

An iMac 21" with 5400rm HD and soldered ram.

An iPhone with 16GB and 1GB of ram where safari has to reload every time you browse a page

A mess of a product line with new and old product mixed together and product with new and old technology mixed together. Ex: iPhone SE doesn't have 3D touch and stabilized camera, iPhone 6 has 3D touch but no stabilized camera, iPhone 6s+ has all three. iPad pro 13" with USB 3 but no dim feature, iPad Pro 10" with USB 2 but with dim features. MacBook 12" with retina and fast SSD, MacBook Air 13" with many ports and long battery but no retina etc.

A mess of an Apple Store with neutered Apps that can't use the entire functionality of OS X. Neutered root access and file system.

Apple Stores with most of employees out of control. I noticed they are no longer courteous like they used to be years ago.

These guys ego is through the roof and they are busy attending events and parties, instead of working and fixing this mess. Please go back to work 20 hours per day and fix the mess you got Apple into, before releasing any new products. We don't need the Apple Car or watch bands or Dr Dre beat headphones. We need existing products that WORK flawlessly!!!!!!

Pathetic keynotes where they insult Apple's customers for not upgrading their Mac to the iPad
