Weren't the patents listed in the ITC case different to the patents in the court case? I seem to recall there being 10 or 15 in the court case but the ITC case ruling is 5 out of 7. 2 remain with no ruling.

I would resist the urge to count your chickens before they hatch.

As far as I can tell, none of these cases are anywhere near finalized...

Kodak vs. Apple
Apple vs. HTC
Nokia vs. Apple
Apple vs. Nokia

If Apple wins the HTC case, the next big one might be, hmm Google itself?

Now THAT would be the mother of all legal battles!

I'd be popping popcorn forever for that one! LOL

My statement is correct. SO FAR they haven't been found to have infringed anything. The only decisions reached so far have been in their favor. And the burden is on Nokia to prove that Apple infringes a valid, enforceable patent claim, not on Apple to disprove it.

those who cant do, press charges. i really like nokia, because unlike the sony erriksons and the like they 've shown some real innovation in mobile tec, and they have the best voice quality bar none, but having said that it's evident that they didn't move along with the times...

sure apple has clout, and so does the us government (hint), but that doesn't excuse nokia execs for being, as execs mostly are, colossal morons in terms understanding trends...

as for google don't worry about them, they will get sued to bits and justly by oracle for having been very very liberal (to say the list) with sun's (now oracle) java and android, but they have such cash reserves...who cares...

that's why I always say boycott google, all the ad revenue of the world surely can't have to go via them over the web...they have a cash cow that's not rightly theirs, and there's bing, there's yahoo, and they are not half bad.

(sorry for the second post in a row mods, thought someone had replied, i mis-saw (can you say that?))

But the blind fan-boyism that pervades these forums gives Apple product users a bad name.

There are other forums with much older apple folk, these forums are renowned for having teenagers, or even preteens posting, I would wager that the vast majority here is between 12 and max 22, and of course kids will act and talk as kids, you can't blame them for that. If you visit other forums, trust me, you won't see that much blind fanboism, or at least you ll see more eloquent blind fanboism...lol...What can you do, people are like that, at least they are not blindly following some leader into some massacre as they 've usually done in the past. The dynamic is there of course but at least it's dormant or expressed benignly in some parts of the western world, because elsewhere it's havoc in terms of blind belief, better something than nothing.

so many uneducated kids here, it's incredible. All want Nokia to fail, but they themselves fail to realize that if it wasn't for Nokia and their patents, none of you would be using smartphones right now. Nor would you have phones as they are now, you would still be using phones with exterior antenna.

What else you fail to realize is that if Nokia fails, Apple will not innovate anything. Smartphone market innovations will freeze quicker than Alaska.

So go ahead, bash me for saying that. I am sure somebody will bring up a point that Nokia doesn't have smartphones. But in reality, Nokia was the first one with a smartphone to the market.

I don't think anyone in their right mind (which excludes, sorry kids, as you rightly mentioned some people) would want nokia to fail, but they aren't helping themselves at all, and despite all the great talent there, the execs seem to be unable to run this ship now, they 've distinctly lacked decisiveness, foresight, and vision for their company in the changing mobile landscape. Nobody, and I mean nobody, expected apple to be that powerful after such a short while in the mobile industry, but that's no excuse. If they didn't expect it after iphone 1, just after, they can be justified...but mucking it up for so long whilst we are reaching iphone 5, with no clear direction is unforgivable. They should have seen the apple train coming at least after iphone 1, it wasn't that apple's computer and ipod sales didn't give any good evidence of what was about to come, if sony errikson can hurt nokia in the past, they should have imagined how a company like apple with years experience in mobile os's (newton, etc.), with almost all the market share on ipod devices, with contantly rising computer sales and an ecosystem with itunes already and millions of customers...just writing all that down I realise how stupid nokia execs have been, should make a statue to their stupidity the finish in some square that's what they should do.

Shame about all the great (more than great) engineers and programmers of nokia...

Nope, preliminary decision in Apple vs. Nokia was in Nokia's favor.

And none of these cases are settled by far, there will be appeals like crazy.

This wasn't going to end any other way.

A US International trade commission - that's an oxymoron - would never rule any other way.

It's funny how US bodies generally agree with all US companies.

I fully agree with you.

US based courts will never make any order against any us company in favour of a non us company. How can apple be in the mobile world without breaching nokia patents?

The answer is, they are in the us and by law they are allowed to.

You ignored my first sentence - I was clearly talking about APPLE being found to have INFRINGED anything. I was not talking about whether anyone had infringed APPLE's patents.
