one word, Quicksilver lol :p

I like seeing your dock that full its neat.

Mike

It's neat as long as it isn't your dock :p

Is there even any space for magnification or is it fully spanned as is?

It doesn't matter how full the Dock is - magnification will shift Dock items offscreen temporarily if it has to in order to display the larger icons.

Yeah I knew that, just didn't occur to me when I wrote the post I guess. Lapse of memory is a very frequent happening in this skull :(

Okay, just making sure you didn't have an addiction that you might want some MR council help overcoming. For the time being your response seems genuine enough, I'll believe it I guess.

Without having looked indepth, what is all that stuff and what do you do for work?
Ah, jury duty... Sorry for the late reply on this - I work for a creative/prepress/photography/printing company. I do a lot of color management, process improvement, and workflow management stuff, so the tools I need are quite varied. I haven't gone with QuickSilver or anything simply because the dock works well for me. Having it filled is not an issue - I wouldn't use the space on either side if it were smaller anyway.

I don't use magnification - can't stand it!

Ugh, jury duty....suck. I have to face the music sometime soon I'm sure...oh well.

I agree that probably no one uses the space to either side of the dock, there isn't much that fits down there but personally I hate having the dock HUGE so unless I have über apps like you do, I have to have space and then magnification is a cool 'feature' to show XP users :p

Here is one I recently put up. I've been playing with different desktops on my PowerMac 7500 a lot more since I added the second monitor to it.

Nice. I had a similar trek-desktop a while ago on my PC - haven't been able to find it again since my last hard drive failure.

My new desktop picture:

Let's see if it sticks as long as the last one, then again 45 days isn't that long ;).

Where did you get that Lowest Gas Price widget? Thanks in advance!

I do not know if it will do you any good or not. It is part of a program called Konfabulator for windows. They say that the widgets will work with Mac but I don't know if it is through the OS or if you have to DL their program.. (Unfortunately I have not switched yet)
As for the widget itself it is pretty cool. It gets its data from MSN and is generally a day or two behind but it is still pretty cool.

Once again living proof that anything windows can do macs can do better...

I don't understand what your comparing to windows. Windows doesn't have widgets.

See the thing with me is...I don't have that many programs, nor could I really run that many at a time.

Tell you what efoto, I'll show you, i'll put that many in my Dock then we will see who has the last laugh! HA! :p

You do that, post a picture, and I'll chuckle at you both :)

I know what you mean. Personally I don't think I have that many useful apps, actually no-where close that I can think of. I have the basic apps and ultra high-use ones in the dock always, and then I threw some folders linked to alias' on the right-hand side of the dock. I guess between the four folders they are linking to 30+ apps and some files, however some of those are just once a week or even longer....so I hardly count them.
