I wish I had known about this! My brother's phone was in the bed sheets and he washed his phone as well. Do all Credit Cards do this?

Is Amex the only company to do this?

As far as I know. Discovery and American Express does...some Visas and Mastercards. You have to check your member benefits.

No, a lot of cards do this. However they usually cover damage and theft and only up to a certain amount per purchase, then up to a certain amount per year. AMEX Platinum covers loss up $10k/incident and not sure what the annual limit is. But they also cover LOSS, instead of just theft and damage like most companies. Between that and doubling my effective warranty, I always buy my gear with my AMEX Plat.

This. Amex is the way to go when it comes to protection/extended warranty coverage. The sleep/wake button on my wife's 4S stopped working in its second year and I replaced it out of warranty for $199. I was expecting Amex to reimburse me the $199 but they gave back the whole $299 plus tax we paid for the 32 GB.

I'm sorry I'm just now responding. I washed the phone on Sunday morning, called AppleCare and they made me an appointment for Monday but told me to go ahead in the store and tell them I had an appt. for the next day but that was my only phone.

I did that and they swapped it out immediately. I didn't have to wait long at all. I did have to pay the $79 deductible but I was happy to do it.
