Panel 09c98 for my 17" MBP. Hope that helps.
Jim and the other new owners, can you check if your new 17 unibody has the full 3gb SATA connection?
Apple symbol > more info > Serial-ATA tab on the left
TIA
...I was considering a refurb but may have to bite the bullet and buy new, the screen is just incredible.
I'm waiting for a glossy 17" to arrive on Monday or Tuesday, it'll be interesting to see what the new display is like. I'm used to glossy from the alu iMac (and the iPhone, in a way) and it doesn't bother me at all... but this morning I had a closer look at a glossy 17" MBP in a store and maaaan, it's like they somehow managed to make it 50% more glossy than the iMac. Like they weren't content with normal glass (I've never seen a window with that amount of glare), they had to mix something extra reflective in it.I too just picked up a new 17" Matte. Puts my 2.66GHz glossy UMBP to shame.
Oh well... IIRC, they do have a 14-day return policy on products with standard configuration, without restocking fee... right?
I guess I should add that there are different rules for different countries... In Sweden they are required by law to offer a 14-day return policy. Apple can take it back for a full refund or go to jail.Nope, they charge a 10 or 15% restocking fee if returned in the 14 day window unless there is something wrong with the machine. You can call and try your luck though, people have had their fee waived before.

Simply because its matte???
Because it's Matte and because of all of the screen flickering issues I had with my 15"

I have the matte on my 2.66 UMBP....but I just ordered a glossy 3.06. I have a photodon AG film if needed. I guess I just wanted a change of pace but hope I don't end up regretting it.
Can you try CPU-X to get more detailed info about CPU?
I'm wondering whether it's T9600 or P9700.
Here's CPU-X link (I hope it works with unibody)

Is the 7200 RPM drive noticeably faster than the stock? I've heard that it makes a difference on the lower capacity HDs but the large 500GB ones have similar performance.
It's the only thing I would BTO and that adds at least 7 days to the delivery and also makes it tougher to exchange.
Thoughts?

I've tried both and definitely noticed a difference. I'd get the 7200 drive
