it baffles me when people come on here asking a question that nobody could possibly know a concrete answer to.
Its impossible to say what the people at your apple store will do...
i have had extremely good service with apple...i have a feeling they will replace it for you...but they definitely don't have to do anything at all if they don't want to.
I cracked my iPad 2 within the first week of launch (long story)..i told them the truth and they gave me a brand new one and i was out of there in no time. This was also in the first couple weeks of iPad 2 release so they were in extremely high demand, i was amazed they sent me home with a new one!
