Just curious who has called Applecare and received FREE bumper recently?

My dad owns one. Here's some pics of it I took. Looks better without that's for sure. But it doesn't look bad.
LOL. That is what the Applecare rep told me on the phone. I acted dumb and said I look ridiculous holding the phone like that and I might get beat up walking down the street like that.
Me too, I miss the black look. But I like the white because is different not everyone has it.
Went into Apple Store with my naked iPhone 4 (Black front/White back) and got a lot of looks.
So i got to FEDEX and picked up my bumper case and realized its the original bumper case for iPhone 4 AT&T cool
Mines also lol but the one they sell at the store is the one for both carriers.
Just scored a free one too. Had to wait for a supervisor's approval but they asked me what color I wanted. Wasn't prepared for that thinking Black would be the only option so I had to have them hold while I looked at all the colors to decide. The route I took was called Apple Care (went thru their troubleshooting steps) they wanted me to take it to an Apple store but I said my phone was only a month old and I didn't want a refurb so they said to call 800-MYAPPLE (online store) and tell them I worked with support and they suggested a bumper would fix the issue. They online store rep put me on hold for 20 minutes waiting for a free bumper approval and came back and said no problem. I did have to give them a CC and she said they charge and then refund all fees. I didn't get the fedex overnight shipping, just standard 1 week but I was more than satisfied.

I've heard numerous complaints of the bumper scuffing the band. Surely it's the case with any case that could allow dust/dirt between the case and the phone and not just the bumper.
Scuffing of the metal band, yes. Chunks of plastic taken out, no friggin way man. The bumper isn't steel! If you use a bumper, just take it off weekly to clean it and you'll be fine. I left mine on for months without cleaning it and that's why my metal band is scuffed (but no chunks missing anywhere).
you waited on hold for 20 minutes so you could get a $29 bumper for free? I don't get it. My time is too valuable to wait 20 minutes on hold.
The antenna issue bugged me a lot (I made plenty of comments on it at the time!) and I got the free bumper but can't stand cases so generally leave it off, they make the phone so much bulkier in your pocket.
The compromise I made is to basically leave 3G off unless I need it, the "death grip" is mainly only an issue on 3G, seems fine on GSM networks... Still hate it being referred to as a "death grip" too, I even made a video ages back demonstrating it only needs to be touched in the wrong place to fail!

Well then I guess you are just "Special" then. There can't be anything more annoying than the person who thinks that everyone should have the same opionion/standards as them. You're time must not be so valuable that you don't have a few minutes to post a pointless reply. Wow!
I went to the Apple store yesterday and got the bumper from the free case program replaced for free. Apple has great customer service.
I have the VZW iPhone and it has antenna gate issues still. None of the tweeks to make the iPhone 4 remedied the antenna issues. I got the bumper for free too.
