youtube and YouTubetv buffering at a crawl (applets 4K beta 14.02). Netflix and Hulu normal. Uninstalled both youtube apps, and now can’t get them to reinstall. Super slow install. On my other appletv (older version) both apps installed as normal

Well,,,after closing other devices using the YouTube apps,,,resolution is back to normal
i even have 4K available again on YouTube

sorry for the confusion

Update i am now getting 4K on my iPad and iPhone but still not on my apple tv

wish iPad do you have I have the iPad 10.2 2019 and no 4k on mind I all so have the A10 chip I wonder if 4k for iPad is for A12 and above ?

I checked YouTube again this afternoon and am now getting 4K on some videos. Some that are marked 4K are still only HD, and a few are whatever is between HD and 4K, but I also saw a fair number that are in 4K.

Just updated for me, but there’s an issue:
30fps videos will play at 4K, but 60fps videos only go up to 1440p.
Verified it a few times, and no differences with HDR videos.
My first thoughts were that it could be the cable, but I’m fairly certain my cables are at least HDMI 2.0, so 4K60 should be supported.

I am a bit surprised that no one mentioned this yet, but I am still on tvOS 13.4.8 and I can suddenly watch 4K videos on Youtube. Just watched the UE 5 demo reveal on 4K 2160p as it says in the app. Quality is excellent.

It seems that tvOS 14 is not a requirement for 4K support on Youtube, however, I am not sure whether HW decoding is active or not (not sure how I can check this if even possible). It only shows 2160p30 with VP9 video and OPUS audio codec in the nerd stats.

I’m guessing nobody has mentioned it as most are probably already on tvOS 14.
It is quite interesting though as that means Google possibly could’ve enabled it long ago.

Finally the 4K option appeared for me as well. That's awesome. I'm just a bit bummed that it seems that 4K/60 isn't available (only goes up to 1440p for 60 fps videos). Why is that? Is the hardware not capable of managing 4K/60 or is there another reason?

Same finding here in Apple TV 4K in india.
