As for mobile GPUs - what actual possibilities are there for an update in April/March? What's better than a 6970m and available?

I think the update is more likely to be April/May. I am expecting a 7970m to be available.

Do you guys think it would be worth it to exchange my current iMac for the the next model up that has the 1GB graphics card? Again, I do a lot of video production. Some of you are acting as if I have no use for the increased specs and need to shut up. This is a big investment so I need to make sure I'll have a powerful machine for video production that'll last the next 2-3 years.

Here is some lesson that I have learned that I will share with you. When it comes to tech and cars, NEVER settle for the base model. You (if you are anything like me) will always wonder, and regret it. It may cost more coming out of the gate, but in my case, I bought the 2008 Quad core 27"iMac.

I run that beotch into the ground DAILY by gaming for hours on it (use a small desktop fan at the rear that I can't see) just to help keep her cooler. I have been completely happy with her for the past 3 years now and just recently have started thinking on upgrading. I know I don't need to, that is the satisfaction of purchasing cutting edge (or with regards to Macs) the latest and most powerful.

It is the same for cell phones, every time I have tried to compromise, I have regretted it. Same for cars.

If you cannot afford the latest and greatest, then that is a different story. Go with what you can and be grateful of what you do have. Use it to the best of it's ability.

Sorry if I sound preachy. Yeah I may have spent more coming out of the gate, but I have been happy with my product for 3 solid years and counting now, which for me, beats buying a good computer, selling it for less than I paid for, and upgrading to the latest model. Losing money in the process.

precisely, and 7970m will be a big improvement in both performance and heat segment

sandy bridge 95W, ivy bridge 77W

7970m will consume 10 W less than 6970m

bottom line, we can expect faster and cooler machines in april ;)

I don't see how iMacs can possibly be racist and also how can the imac be old when the OP has bought the current gen iMac!?

And also, macs are pretty fast, especially at that spec.

That was the most remarkable reply to one of my posts. ever. thank you so much.
