Thanks for the helpful comments.

Yeah. New one coming out soon. Got it. Thanks. I also got what I think to be a good price on a refurb and I wanted a MBP now. The forthcoming revision was not the point of my thread, but I understand that people on this forum need to obsess. Loud and clear. Got it. Enjoy waiting and congrats on your new machine in 1 or 8 weeks.

Anyways, For those who actually read my questions, thank you. It seems like I may have a reasonable concern and I might just take it in to investigate the wobble. I asked for advice based on experience and actually got some.

Forums are great!

Take it in and see what happens. The Apple store reps probably have those little feet in a drawer somewhere. I find it hard to believe the Aluminum frame is bent.

Speaking of feet. My las Macbook Pro - black 13" wold move. So I put my own rubber feet on it. Well, they would come off. Once two came off, I decided to just rip them off permanently - but I could only find three - number four was missing.
Long story short, it was on my face. It must have been there for hours. I was at the library cramming so not very many people saw me except when I got some coffee.

I'm not intending to be a dick, so stop being a dick by calling me a dick, you dick! I think everyone around these forums agrees that the current hardware is not premium. But if it satisfies you, go to town! These are baller ass computers regardless. The OP wanted advice on how picky he should be. My advice was and is: Don't settle for anything less than what Apple is claiming to sell, a premium user experience, which is what he paid for and what he deserves.

They are "baller ass computers" but not premium. Whatever. And forum members are the enthusists not the majority. Sure the new architecture is great and I personally would wait at this point if it was a choice but you and others are ridiculing the op for not waiting. It's childish. Why not just answer the questions presented? Why get critical? It was not your money, it's not your computer, and you have nothing invested in the original poster.

Hi all. I just got a 'new' unibody 13" MBP from the refurb store. I know that new ones are coming out. I'm OK with that. The price was right and this is a nice little machine.

Two issues: it's wobbles. The left front 'foot' doesn't touch at the same time as the others. I've tried this on multiple surfaces. It's rather annoying.

Other issue: the trackpad doesn't click consistently across the pad. This is not as big of a deal as I prefer to tap.

My question is, how picky should I/can I be about the wobbling issue? It's obviously supposed to lie flat. I'll probably notice it forever.

Has anyone else faced a similar problem with these machines? Would Apple swap for a new one or replace? Does the fact that it's a refurb have any bearing on their response?

Thanks much for any thoughts.

I'm just as picky as you. I would take it in to the store and let them know about it. Try something before you live with it.

Just a thought:

I've gone through multiple replacements of MacBooks and MacBook Pro's, sometimes after 3+ repairs, sometimes with a direct replacement soon after purchase. Out of nearly 10 repair attempts for various issues, Apple has only actually FIXED an issue 1 time. In a few cases, the failed repair actually caused new issues, including cosmetic damage.

I would suggest trying to get a replacement or a refund based on the recent purchase of the computer rather than getting into the frustrating process of repairs which may or may not be successful.

When I bought my very first Mac, a white MacBook, the iSight camera did not work properly (the camera itself made a chirping noise when powered on). After 1 or 2 calls to technical support, I asked to speak with Customer Relations. At first they wanted me to do a mail-in repair, but granted a refund and $50 credit based on the recent purchase.

Interesting. When the Bluetooth on my my previous Macbook Black 13" (Blackbook?) took a dump I had to mail the machine in as well under AppleCare. But I would rather do that than drive an hour to the closest Apple Store in King of Prussia. I was without a laptop for about three days. The problem was fixed and I used the machine for another year and a half until I upgraded to my current MBP 15.4". I should have kept the 13 since I'm looking for a "beaterbook" to take places where I wouldn't want my good laptop exposed to.

I thought this was really funny.

well I would detach and reattach the base plate. It's likely it wasnt tightened evenly when it was checked

the back plate is actually quite malleable so you should see if it sits flush on the table when you take it off

Well it's Tuesday (well actually only 1 hour left until Wednesday, but who's counting) so where are these new Bad Boys I keep hearing about? I guess Apple really did future-proof them 8 months ago.
