I don’t plan on stressing it, I’m sorry. I just want to use it and enjoy, not kill it.

This guy knows how to use a computer and he will be very happy with the multi tasking capabilities of having 8 cores.

Don’t listen to people who are trying to earn internet points and YouTube traffic by saying and doing incredibly unrealistic things with a laptop. Some of these are just antagonists trying to sell for the competition. Sock puppets and Like mongers are the new normal.

15” 2.4ghz 8-core i9
32GB ram
1TB SSD
Radeon Pro 560x

Purchased at Highpoint Apple Store (Australia).
On my way home to set it up. Pretty excited, upgrading from a MacBook Pro 2013 4-core i7, 16GB ram, 512GB SSD.

Enjoy your new MacBook Pro, its a cracking machine!

What I found is easier than messing with adapters is simply buying new cables that have USB-C on one end and then whatever type of connector the device requires on the other end. Did that for a couple of older external HDD that I am still using, and it is quick and easy to simply swap cables as needed when going from one computer to another. I also have Samsung T3 and T5 external SSDs and they come with both a USB-C -to- USB-C and a USB-C to -USB-A cable, and that makes life very easy when using those devices as well. That said, I do also do have a couple of small adapters that are part of my travel kit and also Apple's multi-port adapter that works with my external SuperDrive. I also have a couple of Apple's USB-C -to- Lightning cables, too, for plugging in the iPhone or an iPad to my 2018 15" MBP.

Got the 2019 13", 2.8 GHz i7, 16 GB RAM, 1TB while my 2018 is in repair!

I'm happy with my 2018 MB Pro and hope you enjoy yours. I have no issues with the keyboard and am a fan, but the majority of the time I am using a magic keyboard at work. I only use it raw on weekends. Raw...lol.

It gets just as hot as the 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, 2014 model... you get the point. Heat and noise of all Mac laptops since Ivy Bridge has been basically identical.

HERETIC!!! ;) How dare you point out that my, uh, THE 2015 MacBook Pro will ramp up the fans to full bore doing fairly mundane tasks like running Safari and GarageBand at the same time for apparently no reason other than playing back a single track of mono vocal audio is too much for that slice in time.

I’m shocked you would be so honest, don’t you know that the 2012-2015 MBPs are infallible...infallible, I tell you!!!

/s <— For the humorless among us, they are aplenty.

Thank you for explaining that, i thought it was what apps were using  that's currently with all the apps open that i use, Pixelmator Pro, iMovie, Safari with a few tabs open, iTunes with Apple music playing, Pages and Final Draft open for writing.

In that case, am i correct in thinking that 8GB would be enough, if i were to get a Macbook Pro or the 2018 Macbook Air?

Given that the 2018 MacBook Air and the 2019 MacBook Pro both come with only soldered DRAM with no possibility of upgrading this in the future, I would max out at 16GB of DRAM and call it a day. You may not need it right now, but you won’t regret needing it later. Just my 2¢. Good luck!

Cracking machine? What does that mean? Does it make cracking noises?
You’ve never seen Wallace and Grommit, have you?

It's common in larger stores to carry some of the BTO spec Mac's.

Q-6

Not sure if they carry a range of BTO specs nowadays, but when I bought my last MBP (that i'm still using 5 years later) for the 13" they had the 3 standard configs available online plus an "ultimate" version which cost roughly what the top standard config did today and had equivalent specs.

Or this girl.
Thanks. I am just sharing my excitement for my new MacBook Pro, when my previous one was a 2013 model.
I’m actually a Senior Programmer. I might edit a few home videos in iMovie, but as a programmer and tech girl geek, I appreciate the speed of this machine as much as the next guy (or girl).
Not sure if you are planning on using an external keyboard, but it took me a few days to realize that the key to the new keyboard was that I just didn’t need to use the same amount of force to type and type well. The downside is that I have a couple of the older Magic Keyboard with the older scissors style keys, which require more force, and so I drift back and forth a bit. My only suggestion would be to pick up one of the new wireless Magic Keyboards with the crisper scissors mechanism if you are going to want an external keyboard for longer coding sessions. Enjoy! I really like my 2016 MacBook Pro despite the naysayer’s naysaying!

Its a downgrade solely in MacFather's delusional mind. Just ignore posters like that, they disagree with some of the design choices and in their small world "I don't like it" means "Its bad".

Ahh yes. Entitlement.

We call them parasites in the restaurant business. We're quite successful without those people and their "business", and weed them out at every opportunity.

Looking forward to trying this notebook out myself. It's too much notebook for me personally, but my boss likes to buy a new one every time they refresh, so I'll get to play with one...
