I just feel that the battery is draining way much faster than my iPad 2. I can play with my iPad 2 for the entire day at all time before the battery get drained. This does not seem possible with the new iPhone 4s.

Perhaps this is the root of the problem. There's no way an iPhone with a 1500 mAh battery, powering a 3G cellular radio, with full screen brightness, can last as long as the iPad's 7000 mAh battery.

Ain't gonna happen.

My 4s drains battery on standby almost as fast as my ipad2 while browsing the web and being used for non extensive stuff. Charged both full last night and I have only been using my ipad2 today and only made one call on iphone 4 and both looks to be at about half battery...ipad is currently at 66% charge.

Talking time up to 8 hours non stop
WiFi for 9 hours is definitely impossible, this one I can attest to it. It can only last at most 6 hours of WiFi surfing.

I'm sure we're all smart enough to realize published specs are "idealized" and if you read the specs page linked to, it directs you to http://www.apple.com/iphone/battery.html for more info about Apple's testing.

I trust nobody would think I was suggesting we'd see those numbers in real world usage given all the other stuff going on in our phones. My point, in case it eluded anyone, was that since my usage typically sees a significant portion of the published spec, I feel my 4S is performing adequately.

@xraydoc makes the best point -- ipads and iphones are different devices with different power usage (screen backlight) and battery capacity.
