Just Got My White Glass Backplate For My iPhone 4

been a week for me, havent got mine yet. was just wondering incase it has come quickly for you.
 
Ordered an OEM white back housing from eBay (user has 400+ 100% feedback and it set me back 90 dollars). He clarified that it is the same one that iresq sell. Since iResQ don't ship internationally and I live in UK, I had to go for the eBay route. Other websites that ship internationally charge something stupid like $40 just for shipping. It's due to arrive in about two weeks, so will post pictures when I have it. Can't wait tbh.
 
got mine in today after a week long delay. same as OEM back and comes with rings and diffuser. I could care less about images being washed out as I never use the 'flash'.

From mobiletimes on ebay. As described, but I didn't get it for over two weeks; they claim they're in CA. When I contacted them last week they stated they ran out of stock and just received a new batch in (conveniently) the day I contacted them. Regardless of the truth, I would have preferred they told me this upfront.

huh? the original OEM backplate that comes on the iphone has a diffuser, does it not? also yellow just like the white backplate

Yeah it looks like the same as the more expensive ones and it won't be a let down if the diffuser causes problems. I'm just hoping the shipping doesn't take to long :)
 
well, now that the white has been delayed until spring 2011, i am now very tempted to buy the full OEM backplate. However, is it a big enough risk to spend £40 on eBay for the part?
 
that above diffuser is showing $40 shipping for me lol. $45 for a peice of plastic the size of a pen tip, not for me!

the only thing im worried about with getting the full OEM backplate is the risk of it being damaged during transit. Plus what if something is wrong with it, cant be bothered with the hassle of returning it etc. its a risk that i will debate over the rest of today!

I've just messaged him to ask for a flat ship rate to the uk i will let you know when i get an answer.Would you just glue this in carefully if you got the part?

cool thanks mate so have i!

yea i think the edges would overlap the flash hole so i assume you would just be able to glue the edges down (probably would be a bit tricky), although i cant see any issue with gluing it directly to the glass, as long as the glue is perfectly see through and is a thin enough layer.

Yeah i see what you mean. Well i ordered a backplate without a flash so im gonna wait and see how the flash behaves. I think the flash will just sit in the hole where it should go then you can apply some glue to the edges without interfering with the actual led flash :)

Lol it might turn out to be really cheap doing it this way!!

Where abouts are you based? If I get an OEM one it would be from the same seller you got it from, mobiletimes. Seems the best price including shipping. Your pics look good too. How well was it packaged? Perfect fit? No issues?

Just be careful on the ring. It inlcudes the outer glass "lens" piece and needs a hole in the back glass to go through. Most of the cheaper glass back pieces do not have the hole so the ring assembly won't work. I have a set of glass drills and thought of drilling the cheap one I had out and going that route, but strengthened glass is difficult if not impossible to drill without it shattering.

Thanks for the info. I dont think i will be needing a camera lens but just thought it would be interesting to post. Do you have any advice on how best to put in a flash diffuser if it were separate from the glass housing?
