yea the seller claims they are the same quality as the official black ones, good news.

ive got this one coming too:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI....760447&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT#ht_2915wt_905

got it for $12 when he was selling them. should be coming in the next few days as its been about 10 days since i bought it! doesnt have the diffuser though.

Looks like the one I got. So when I bought the diffuser the seller told me it's ok to glue the diffuser onto the backplate, apple do the same. Now I'm wondering if there is any steps I can take to try and eliminate any light bleed that might occur?

i wouldnt know mate sorry lol. i assume it would be fine just sticking it on.

Lol it was worth a shot :D the pictures I've seen look like they are glued on. Can anyone who has taken there original black plate off confirm that is the way it is done? The diffuser seller said he just applied some glue to the side he was sticking the diffuser to the glass and that would be fine to do it that way!!

Well my white backplate that I mentioned ordering a few pages back from Apple Parts Store on eBay arrived today, I was out when it was delivered but fortunately a neighbour took it in for me. First impressions are good, in fact it looks as though it could have come direct from Apple, though it doesn't include any of the barcodes or stickers that I've seen in some of the other pics; particularly those of backplates purchased from iResQ and Zeetron, but other than that it's identical and the quality seems to be very good.

It's late and I've got to be up at 05:30 so I'm not going to go into too much detail but suffice to say that I'm happy with it and will post a more detailed review as well as a few pics ASAP ;)

which one was that mate? have you got a link, sorry.

hopefully my $12 one comes tomorrow, will be 11 days today (friday) since i bought it.

I ordered just the white glass back from mobiletimes on ebay, I don't really dig white on the front of the phone. Seemed pretty cheap compared to other places and it shipped the same day. I'll throw a picture up when I receive it.

Right one more question guys since I am a newbie to this lol. One of my concerns is the part where we screw the phone back together (after applying the new backplate). I just want to know how strongly do we screw in? I obviously wouldn't want to do it too hard to ensure that it won't break anything but don't want to do it too lightly either just in case it's not in properly. I would have tested this myself with my iPhone but I don't have the right screwdriver (my backplate is coming with one).

Screw them back in until you find it difficult to turn it anymore. Once it is tight enough it will be ok :)

Gotcha :) Cheers bro! I'm eagerly anticipating the arrival of my backplate lol so I have been on these forums admiring what others have done with theirs. Really love the look of the black front with the white back and the black bumper (I have that lol). I loved the design of the white 3GS more than any other iPhone so would be great to get this white backplate sooner rather than later!

What you need is a torque wrench and sone thread lock, the blue stuff not the red stuff. Also you need a bit adapter so you can use a 00 size philips bit on the torque wrench. Apply some thread lock to screw thread then "Hand" tighten the screw till flush with the surface. Then set your torque wrench to the proper inch pounds, don't know off the top of my head what inch pounds try looking it up on google, and tighten the screw till the torque wrench clicks. Repeat for the second screw.

That's it =D

That's so complicated... I considered doing the blue Locktite but never even considered a torque wrench. The screw is so small that I feel using locktite may actually be difficult since applying the proper amount without the blue stuff spilling out sounds like a pain in the ass.

I just tighten till it stops, without applying monster amounts of pressure. Common sense here goes a long way. Just don't tighten the hell out of it.

a much better answer! thats what i plan on doing, looking at the position of the screws before you take them out probably works aswell, just so you know how it should look when you tighten them back in.

Same here man I can't wait to get mine in the mail :D I had a 3GS before the iPhone4 and I had a White too. I got bored from having a black 3g so decided a change. It looks like you can get any colour back now considering you can buy the backplates with the housing but no flash or camera ring. You can buy the camera ring and flash diffuser seperately and glue them in like apple did!!

I might get a blue one :)

Lol I suppose but nothing would contrast the black front and black bumper like the white one. Besides, I feel having another colour would make the iPhone look tacky rather than authentic, yet different. I wanted to ensure that the parts I am getting are OEM (which they are) and I would rather not go through the hassle of getting a case, sticking a camera lens and diffuser to it with glue and then applying it just for something that I personally feel, doesn't look as good as the white back.

I wanted to replicate the look of the 3GS with the new iPhone but was annoyed that Apple were releasing an all-white or all-black iPhone. This will solve my problem :)

Lol I thought he was taking the piss. I will just use the common sense approach by looking at the initial positions and then just tighten them until I think they are firmly in without me having to apply too much pressure :) Just clutching at straws as I await my backing tbh lol.

My plate didn't have the diffuser so I purchased one from eBay. It will be simple to put it in I just have to wait for both to arrive now!

I don't know if I'm decided on whether to get the front done or not yet

the screen looks very slighty yellower because of the matte/antiglare screen protector im using

other then that its perfect. it came with all the QR barcodes on the front housing.

That looks pretty legit, tuzii. Did you replace the dock connector too? Apparently, I heard that the inside of the headphone jack (and dock connector) on the real white iPhone are white too. Since Apple isn't going to release the white one until next spring, I'm seriously considering a conversion. Does anybody have a compiled list of vendors, reviews, and prices? I will try my best to read the entire thread.
