And this whole time baby was alone in the car???????

Let's not get away from the important point that he found the iPhone with 'Find My iPhone'.... lol! :p

But yes, seriously, if i were you i would not have taken my baby with me, just in case the 'offender' was a 20 year old thug.

Good story though, its the very reason i activated my MobileMe account on my wife's iPhone...

Do you have to have mobile me to use the find my iPhone feature? I have a iPhone 4 and a iPod touch 4G.

Where in the story do I say I left the baby alone in the car? Nowhere.

She was with me when I went in the business.

I assure you, if the phone looked like it was in the hands of some thug, I wouldn't have bothered to try and retrieve it. Though I'm pretty sure she would of had my back and taken him down herself if needed.

i guess because you mention everything including eating donuts, i was expecting some mention of the human in the back seat

wow this is an amazing story. Im glad you found your wife's phone and didn't have to fight someone for it

No you dont, you can just use your itunes account!

just install find my phone app and then add a mobile account under email in settings. Sign in with your itunes account and follow the directions.

The tracking i think will be hit or miss, but certainly remote lock and wipe are very valuable tools if needed.

Glad you found it. Interesting that everyone assumes the man was faking being polish  and "stole" the phone. Very likely he FOUND the phone somewhere and was either going to keep it, or possibly going to try to return it. Also amazing folks assuming the story is made up. I don't get people.

i think they were saying he was faking the not speaking english, not faking he was of polish decent

Riggght. And that's odd. Why not believe the man was Polish speaking, and didn't know much English? Why not take folks at face value? He just happened to look to someone who could interpret from Polish to English for him???

A polish guy who didn't speak much English found an iphone. This guy used his nifty FMI feature to get it back. Folks turn it into something nefarious. Either, fake guy, or fake story or, or, or. Why not take things at face value from time to time?

To the OP: great story!

no thats not odd at all, i know many europeans whos parents dont speak english that well

wow how threads quickly spin out of control!

i personally dont care if the story is made up or not, i do however believe it is true. Its just a nice reminder either was to sign up and use FMI (it's free)

I'm glad things worked out and the phone was recovered.

Exactly! Often there are doom and gloom threads about FMI. But this was a good tale with a positive outcome. I love FMI.

I live blocks from where the phone was recovered. This is a very heavily Polish area of Chicago. It is very common to encounter Polish only speaking people around here. My neighbors on each side are Polish only speaking.

Of note: The only city with more native Polish people than Chicago is Warsaw Poland.

Great now glue it to your wife's hands.

I would embellish the story when you explain it to the wife. lol

like one guy pulled a knife, you tossed the baby up in the air, disarmed the attacker, bent the blade making it useless, tied all 3 bad guys up with heavy metal chains, called the police, took the phone back, caught the baby safely in your arms, and went and had a donut.

Nice! Congrats on your recovery.
Your lucky you heard it in his backpack because the volume on the iPhones is still awful. I guess Stev is never going to let it be very loud.

I know some wil say the volume isnt bad but it is. Compared to my Vibrant, it is terrible. Just dont nderstand why they cant get that right.

/\/\/\/\ Chuck Norris lol

Good story and good result it could have gone either wway but im happy you didnt get a beating

you took your child with you? Im glad you got your phone back, but that was a risky move.
