I'm going to be buying a new Macbook Pro in the coming week, and I was asking him about upgrading to 4GB or RAM........He stated that it is better just to go with the 2GB of RAM that the MBP is shipped out with, and THEN at a later date IF I needed the extra RAM, that I could take out the existing RAM and install 2 2GB of RAM......

Which is better?:

1. To immediately upgrade to 4GB of RAM?

2. To use the MBP's RAM that it comes with....and then at a later date (months/years later), to upgrade to 4GB of RAM at that time?

upgrade to 4 gigs through apple = couple hundred dollars
upgrade to the same 4 gigs yourself = ~$80 and you have 2 sticks of 1 gig to sell or something

They should at least call it (Red)RAM so you can pay the insane premium and they'll donate 10 cents to charity.

I'd recommend the same, upgrade to 4 GB yourself for ~$80 (or less even), then sell the 2 sticks of 1 GB to get most of your money back. I got my 4 GB of RAM from fry's one day when they had a sale for $80 bucks. They have these kinds of sales almost all the time. I'm sure you can find 4 GB anywhere for cheap. Make sure its a reliable brand tho.
