you cant expect people from 3rd world countries to have the same mannerism.

even in 2nd world countries people display absolutely no class.

I'd be extremely mad as well, i would of probably talked crap to them. If it ends in a fight then so be it. Hopefully they learn to have some decent manners of the country they're visiting.

Its not like i go to 3rd world countries and hit on married muslim women (lol i'd probably get killed if i do so).

They're just less educated, and if they are and they still act like that, they're just scumbags.

Wow
I've travelled all over the world, including many countries that you would no doubt call third or second world, and I can tell you now that the worst country I have visited for a lack of class is the USA and the worst culprits were white middle class Americans.
Strangely enough the rudest most vile visitors to my own country have always been American too.
But you keep on with your racial stereotypes and Xenophobia.

This has been going on at my location since the day after launch. They get their 2 phones, pay full price cash, then repeat process until there is no stock.

Today when I got my phones I asked one guy in front of me how many times he has gone through, I got there late. He said this is my 3 time. Lucky there were many + phones there today. By the time I was done there was no more lines and they kept selling the scalpers phones. I think it should be limited to 2 phones per day or week. They can't enforce Apple id's if you are buying outright.

I'm just glad the scalpers are from other countries besides China, see too much of them. Not that I like scalpers, they are absolutely horrible... I am glad Apple put up the 2 device limit.

Not taking the side of scalpers.. but the limit is 2 per person per order, not 2 per person per day. It will work fine on launch day when there are 500 people lined up.

It's completely up to store and management discretion. Frankly I think Apple would rather just avoid conflict and let people keep coming back for more, should they choose to do so.

Another easy way to avoid this would be to not allow outright purchases. They seemed to have been just fine doing that on their online store...

LOL, ain't that the truth

OP: it's really your fault not to place the order online for pickup....tough luck, you need to outsmart the so called "scalpers"

lol the "america" hate.

where are you from? lol at white middle class americans, I'm not white if that was your "assumption".

If your born in america, you have manners. Just because you ran into some white trash doesnt mean all are like that, nor if meeting some thugs that are of minority mean they are all degenerates.

how do you know they're form america? what do they do?

I've been to 2nd and 3rd world countries, they're very materialistic, and look at the poor like 2nd class citizens.

they constantly want bribes or they give you trouble, take valuables away, or something of that sort.

Anyone with a bit of power in 3rd world countries, power trip.

Of course not all, and did i say ALL or generalize everyone in my previous post?

No, i haven't. First you generalize a whole race and class of a nation (which I'm not even a part of) then you say we're the worst tourists?

There were polls and reports and that chinese nationals (before you say I'm a racists bigot, I'm asian btw) were considered the worst tourists. I go to shanghai every year, and of course not all chinese are like that. But more often then not theres a couple chinese tourists, are essentially yelling while the whole plane is sleeping. Also, there is no personal space essentially either.

i dont mind, i adjusted to it. pointing out doesnt have to be INSULTING.

in my plane trips to india, i dont like that there are travelers that recently wiped your feces with their hands. and that when i go into the airplane bathroom, theres feces all over the sink because someone has just done it as well.

So i assume your form a 3rd world country since you got offended. Im just pointing out facts. Theres nothing insulting about it. How can you not agree that 3rd and 2nd world countries are not more polluted and dirtier?

They just need to develop, China was worse 10 years ago, Korea 30 years ago.

Im just telling the OP that sometimes these dudes dont know better, and if they DO, they're classless scumbags.

The OP is the one who injected race into the conversation. Some others are just calling the OP out on this.

So let's look at the OP's direct quotes:

- "I see a small line formed out front with about 4 Middle Eastern guys and 2 Mom's with kids. The Middle Eastern guys each had 2 shopping bags each full of phones.": How is the race of the people carrying shopping bags relevant to the OP's point! Why bring it up?

- "Of course the guys in front of me that could barely speak English says "2 more Verizon 128 Plus Black"": Again, how is the fact that a person can or cannot speak English well relevant to the OP's point? Why bring it up!

- "The thing that really pissed me off is the guy was smirking at me and said something in Arabic". Again, how is this relevant to th point the OP was making that Apple was allowing customers to purchase more than 2 phones.

The OP's post was almost an entire injection of race!

Is it your life's work to come onto a forum and try hardest to find racism? Honestly you are really stretching. This crap is getting really old. Maybe you need to get some thicker skin, or realize you are reading into things way too much. The media, and people like you cause way more issues then ever need to be just like the bendgate crap. There was no racism of any kind here. Really just stop.

----------

I think there are many folks here who need to learn the definition of racism. Stating a fact isn't racism.

Here in Menlo PK NJ store on the first few days probably 80% of those in line were Asian. They were there by the family. Mom, Dad, Grampa, Gramma, kids. Anyone who could stuff their pockets with cash and walk out with 2 phones each. All you had to do was listen to the conversations with the Apple saleskiddies. These folks were walking out with 6, 8, 10 & 12 devices virtually every one paid with cash. They obviously had no plans on signing ATT contracts. This went on with the 5 and 5s launches as well.

All perfectly legal. Just annoying to those of us standing in line for an hour for JUST ONE to use for our personal use.

It was all over the news. "Purchasing to send back to China and sell them for upwards of $2000 each" were the reports on the major networks. Does that make the reporters racist? No, just stating facts.

Please people, before tossing out the "R" Word know exactly what it means. Racism is a terrible thing, but this ain't racism.

Could not agree more. It seems this is just the popular thing to do.

If your born in america, you have manners.

Snipped this for brevity. But this is a silly generalization of any country. Why? Because different countries have different standards for manners and etiquette.

My family is from Hungary. You don't slurp your food, you never eat with your hands, you certainly don't eat with a hat on, no tv at the dinner table, the list goes on and on.

Walk into nearly any non five star restaurant and most of these rules are broken by everyone inside.

Getting back in line to buy more of a product, assuming it is not against store policy, is perfectly fine (and I am a guy that has been screwed by the scalpers as well). Talking crap about a person in line certainly is not, but that hardly has anything to do with where these people are from and what their economic background might be. People of all ethnic and economic backgrounds talk crap.

OP, what in the world does their ethnicity have to do with their actions??? Mentioning where you thought they are from and what language you thought they were speaking adds nothing of value.

i apologize, i meant to say certain standards of manners. and of course i dont expect everywhere else in the world to respect that.

When i go to different countries i adjust as well, i try to get used to their customs and mannerisms (i mean i certainly won't show less manners than I'm used to, but of course i would express more if it was needed).

these guys should adjust too when they're in different countries (the one the OP was talking about), or someone might just punch them in the face for being rude *******s.

I don't think you're being fair at all about this. It's a common concern and it IS happening rather you want to admit it or not. When Apple comes out with a hot product there are tons of asians in line buying the product and nine times out of ten their bags have multiples of the same product. I mean, nobody here has to speculate this. There are pictures that have been shown here and all over the internet. Then Ebay manages to get flooded full of this product with an inflated price.

To be honest I gave the OP the benefit of the doubt. I assumed he was just setting the scene for the story. It would have been pretty boring had he just said 4 scalpers took all the phones :/ If it was two fat ginger guys I hope he would have described them as well. If the slur had come in some slang that he didn't understand, again I hope he would have taken umbrage at the fact these fat white ginger men couldn't string a coherent sentence together.

Your comment on the other hand suggests perhaps you've missed your calling. Have you ever considered a career in data collection for statistical analysis? You sir must be a mage of a statistician. You could save polling companies millions with your expert sampling and data collection. To think companies/institutions/governments waste millions of dollars collecting representative samples and avoiding bias in order to make statistically sound observations. When all they need to do is observe a dozen pictures on the internet and watch a couple of lines outside a store to make conclusions about the behaviour of millions of people. Tell us o wise one, what other walks of life (aside from scalping) are asians over represented in?

You can't order any for pickup except T-Mobile without signing a contract.

You can't without signing a contract...

It must be different in US.

I reserved mine (when it showed available in my local store) and did choose the time from the available time window and did pick it up after work.

So tell us, why is it these Scalpers who, if they didn't try to sell to you, weren't scalping, actually screwed you?

If they are taking the phones abroad to sell at home, then more likely they are speculators.

You still have the "World Series"?

I would have tell the guy that I wanted to buy a Verizon model and ask to please get 1 only of that model since does are the last.

I know plenty of scalpers that wouldn't have a problem with that.

No, not my life's work at all! Just an average guy casually reading through a forum. Actually, it would be "stretching" to read the OP's comments and conclude they are not chalk full of racism. It practically jumps off the page. Just saying it's time to move into the 21st century.

Apple is the Company that set the policy: Two phones per transaction. Anyone can walk in, purchase two phones, get back in line and purchase two more phones. Perfectly within the guidelines. Apple employees have no way of knowing what someone "intends" to do with the phones they purchase (nor does anyone else), especially not based on the ethnicity of the person buying the phones. There is no App for that!

So, to look at Middle Eastern customers purchasing multiple phones in accordance with Apple's policy and assume that they are scalpers sure looks like xenophobia or racism to me.

Nah seems like a much better approach to stay quiet and go home to post a passively racial rant on a forum.

All kidding aside if the OP just put down their wall for a minute and had a genuine conversation they might have been pleasantly surprised and learned something. But for seems people these days are just afraid to go out of their bubble of comfortable. A shame really.

I have been waiting for a 6+ 128GB Space Grey Verizon to come in stock locally, finally an Apple Store about 30 mins away shows them in stock. I leave work in the middle of the day and take a personal hour. I get there in about 25 mins no traffic. The Apple Store app is still showing them available. I see a small line formed out front with about 4 Middle Eastern guys and 2 Mom's with kids. The Middle Eastern guys each had 2 shopping bags each full of phones. Apparently the Apple Store was selling them each 2 at a time of whatever they wanted, and letting them keep going back in line and buying more and more. Of course the guys in front of me that could barely speak English says "2 more Verizon 128 Plus Black" which happened to have been the last 2 they had. I said, wait a minute, how many per person, the apple store rep said there is a 2 per person limit. I said then how do they have shopping bags full of phones? She said "we let them get back in line when they are done." I was pissed, but not about to start a fight in the middle of the mall. The thing that really pissed me off is the guy was smirking at me and said something in Arabic under his breath that made the 3 of his friends laugh. This really sucks for normal users that want to buy the phone full price so they don't have to sign a new contract...

Thanks for listening,

Y2J

Started reading and all I could see pictured in my head was a little baby in a tux, riding in a lemo and crying his eyes out. You get mad at someone because they have the audacity to buy something!!! How dare them!!

Really dude? This thread makes you sound like a total jerk. They have every right to buy the phone and technically they were NOT breaking the 2 per limit as Apple was letting them do it.... SO if any one "screwed" you it was capitalism and Apple.

----------

That's disgusting, I would definitely confront them if they smirked and spoke at me with Arabic, if things escalated so be it.

It's not their place to do such things. Let them know that. Teach them some respect.
I see what you did there....

I've got a bunch of good friends that are Arabic / Middle Eastern, various ethnicities...and these guys had accents...
Not racist if you have "those" friends right?

----------

I'm curious, why is merely pointing out that a specific group or ethnic group is scalping considered xenophobic?

Pointing out facts isn't xenophobic. I dislike scalpers, not any specific ethnicities. Because of what they DO, not what they are.

Why because he mentioned they are middle eastern? Get over yourself, merely stating facts isn't xenophobic, I'm so tired of these boogeyman words being slung around everywhere.
It's Xenophobic because the fact they were Arab had NO bearing on the story. If he would of simply said "scalpers" that would of sufficed.

No I am not a stretching at all to see no racism. Describing people by nationality the last time I checked was not racism. Maybe since we are in the "21st century" that definition has changed. If he had said the men were Americans would that have been racism? You would not be here posting, and no one would have thought twice about it. Only because they were not American and he gave that detail it makes it racism? He was mad because they were scalpers. Not because they were middle eastern.
