I got this same message. When I checked my order status later it said that everything was on backorder but I ordered at 5 am this morning! Could my early order really be backordered?

It isn't available until the 24th so I would expect it to be back ordered until closer to that date.

I ordered two phones one at a time. I did that because I was upgrading specific lines. I started by checking the eligibility of the line in question and going forward from there. Then the same for the second line.

Finally got mine through ATT at about 2pm mst. But, the order has a lot of disclaimers in it like subject to availability, so we'll see. Haven't gotten confirm by email but I got confirm page from ATT. Rather get it through Apple but thought I'd grab what I could.

Did anyone else try ordering their new Iphone on their old Iphone? I was able to order mine through AT&T with no problems. Well done Smitty!

I was also able to get mine thru ATT.com about 10 minutes ago. I didn't want to, but it's done now. I haven't received a confirmation email or been charged yet though. So I won't really feel confident until then!

***Also, for those interested; I was originally told my $18 upgrade fee would be waived; with all the chaos I didn't think that would go thru. But on my confirmation it mentioned that it was waived! Success!
