I've just this min clicked on my web browsers bookmark to Macrumors and immediately my AVG virus scanner flagged up a warning saying a java script file is infected with something called TechScam (screenshot attached). I closed Macrumors, opened up google search, typed in Macrumors, clicked on the link and again AVG flagged up a virus warning in the following https://cdn.geni.us/snippet.min.js. The warning only occurs when I connect to the Macrumors website.

Is this a false positive

I looked over the code and it didn't seem suspicious. The vendor said this is a false positive, and has reported it to AVG.

If you are running Mac, there really is no need to be concerned, as there are no Mac viruses in the wild. There is some malware.

Consider becoming a Contributor, and you won’t have to see ads or run into this kind of thing.

Thank you for merging my topic into this one. I hope they (avg/avast and/or macrumors) will fix it. Because malware is rare on Macs, the fact that this suddenly popped up on this website did raise some concerns.

The same just this min happened when I connected to the website.. It would therefore appear the issue has not been resolved yet.
